Hank. The help you need is not here. I want to help you. I need you to stop hanging around internet cafe's and get to a shelter. I have worked with shelters before and I know even in my tiny city there are -many- to choose from, most of which are free. Any shelter will take you in. You qualify for disability from the government. You qualify for wellfare. You can get a job doing something that doesn't involve walking. Fill out ten applications a day until you get a bite. Don't have a phone? Let the employer know that on the application and check with them every day.

Let me know when you've done all that and I'll give ya s'more advice.

Ido get SSI/D,asIsaid,IIRC,likewise , shelters are not too conducive to safety , and I am " wimpy "/nonagressive, or even getting sleep, and, tho maybe in Miss. where they aren't perceived as being overrun w/single male HL as SF is, they take job calls at sheltes I don't belive they do here . Shelters here tend to be risk-of-catching-TB-or-similaratouriums,too.
I have teeth like a bum , I'm afriad ( Which , since I , officially , am...) , which no shower or clothes will change . Just years of being unable to get/denied care , really , not drugs...(In case UR wondering.) As far as some job , perhaps once i I was in SFCC,even just enrolled/waiting,and had the, more upscale, " adult/returning student " status and access to exclusive listings,I could more likely get job,but now...
I'm fully HL now,and the foot's still not healed, anyway.I will see the hospital I get some medical care for that, anyway, today. My postings here weren't at Internet cafes(places that U pay 4),incidentally , thriftiness-wise. I'll add that (as I see it) a relative of mine (Female cousin) has cheated out of a % of money that I believe is mine ( From what my mother inherited from her father) , said FC having done dirties on my repeated times...Can't pursue her right now...

Tell them that you are a high-functioning autistic man and that you cannot care for your diabetes or yourself. They may be able to get you into a group home. This is more serious than simply being homeless. You have a disease that will kill you.

I am HL now as the ( I believe referred-to B4 . ) temporary lodging ran out .

No no. You refuse to go to a shelter because you'll be uncomfortable around the people you think are there. That's a choice I'd say.

I was homeless for about 6 months,it wasnt exactly "by choice"I tried too stop drinking and couldnt do it on my own.I was lucky to be in MN,lots of help. There is such a large percentage of homeless in SF and it isnt easy to share the resources and help everyone who needs it.

I really hope you can get into school.

Until someone has been homeless,I dont think they can be aware of the daily difficulties you face in just trying to meet daily needs.Everything takes longer and is harder, having AS/HFA can make that even more challenging.Congratulations on still being alive.Sorry about what I see as some unnecessarily harsh responses from some people here.

I dont know how to help you.I got myself into a CD treatment program but even those have waiting lists.I worked "rent a bum" jobs for several years, but even those expect to be able to get ahold of you and there may not be many in SF?It was hard for me to even get up in time to go to them...no alarm clock and not sleeping to well in the squats.

Have you considered moving to a different location?SF is so expensive to try and live on SI.What are you wanting to go to school for(subject?)I would imagine even the school there is more expensive but if you are a resident, maybe it's cheaper?
Anyway.I personally hope you feel OK to post again. You may find more support in the thread called.....The Haven.I doubt that anyone can solve your problems but it should be a safe place to go "vent".

Last time I was in SF,every doorway had somone sleeping in it.Reant is insanely expensive there,I dont know hhow anyone can afford to work a min. wage job and still afford a place to live.I was homeless in Minnesota and there were a lot of empty buildings,we also slept under the train bridges but there were some pretty aggressive people who also hung out there,so it could be dangerious. The people I hung out with here were the "gutter punks"....the girls were nice, the guys....not so much.We had a few people who came here after some anarchist convention in SF and ended up staying here...it was easier to squat here at the time(1990),lots of empty buildings and free food but they have torn down a lot of the buildings now....I think they see it as "rat extermination",get rid of the squates and the squaters will all freeze to death.....good plan.

They used to have "program" here....if you were homeless ,they would give you a bus ticket to the place of your choice in exchange you had to sign a paper saying you wouldnt return to MN for a year...it saved the state a lot of money in social services.they could arrest you if you returned....what big hearts. If you cant get into school,I would still consider moving some where else to live on your disability checks.I lived in Missouri for a year and my sister and I rented a whole house for about
$600. a month(they paid utilities.),it cost that much to rent a very small aprtment near Minneapolis. The wages in MO were about half what they are in MN,but if you are living on disability,it is a much better deal in the long run.My sister still lives in MO and is on disability(for physical and psych reasons)and she gets really cheap rent(like a 100$ a month)....just something to think about.
On the other hand MO,had a lot of "conservative bible thumpers that I didnt get along with but it wasnt to hard to just avoid people....I have been practicing my whole life.Nothing "interesting" to do there, unless you like nature, then southern MO has some really cool caves and woods(I live in Columbia for years),love the hills and woods there. and they do have a pretty descent sized college....Northern M was really boring...lots of farms.

I wish you luck with your school situation.

When I was last in San Jose(close to SF and about as expensive), the local star bucks paid $20/hour to serve coffee! That is usually a decent SKILLED wage!

...In late summer 2001 I visited , while homeless ( But , not telling him that . ) an old friend of mine , in Rochester , MN.
Directly , of course , 75?? miles away , plus , my bus passed thru " Minnie-Ha-Ha " (as another in that circle of friends , from Green Bay , had refered to Mpls) .
The visit turned out not-too-great/in a weird manner , but , later...
