I can't tie my shoes. But part of that is because of dyspraxia.

I don't even know what the rabbit going through the hole is...lol, I probably don't tie my shoes 'right' but I don't really pay attention to how exactly I do it. It took me a very long time to learn to tie them to stay tied though but cannot say I ever learned any correct method of shoe tying.

I tie my shoes in bow. I am not sure if I am trying them the traditonal way.

It took me a long time to learn. My kindergarten teacher said we would not be passed to first grade if we could not tie our shoes. I practiced a really long time. I finally got it after what seemed like 100 hours of practice.

I am not a slow learner. I think it was a motor coordination thing. I knew my letters but I had a hard time actually writing them.

I can but I always worn shoes with velcro when I wasn't at school because I have a tremor disorder that acts up when tying so velcro is easier & faster for me.

This is something I've always struggled with. I'm not half bad at the <bunny ears> method but could not ever get the whole around the tree thing to ever work.

I never had a problem tying my shoes. The only issue was the need to tie both shoes with the same amount of pressure against my feet; I would re-tie my shoes multiple times until they felt the same. Eventually, I just tied them really loosely and double-knotted them so I could slip them on and off without bothering with laces. Then I migrated to shoes with no ties. Then I started running, and I found that running shoes are the best thing for me because I can tie them tight equally on the first try, usually. So now I wear running shoes everywhere.

Still can't do it properly. I do the bunny ear method and cannot figure out the other method no matter how hard I try. I was ridiculed for wearing Velcro sneakers up to the age of 8 and I still can't figure out why: SO much quicker and easier than those damn shoelaces.

Isn't this the year self-lacing sneakers were supposed to be invented?

I can but it took me a long time to learn how and I am embarrassingly slow at it.

So I looked up some videos on how to tie your shoes and I definitely don't do the "bunny" method. I do this other method, similar to the "around the tree" method, but in all the videos, they do it backwards from how I do it.

The traditional way of tying your shoes is not even the most effective. There's a TED talk on it: http://www.ted.com/talks/terry_moore_how_to_tie_your_shoes?language=en

:)

After looking up both methods talked about here, I realised that I don't do either. But, my mother taught me how to tie my shoes and she has cerebral palsy and has almost no use of her right hand so she taught me the only way she knew how to do it. I learned at a normal age though (with resistance haha).

It took me until I was 10 to tie my shoes. One of my friends, who's a sister to an Aspie, she would tie them for me.

Now, I wear laceless shoes. I also have another autistic friend who also has laceless shoes. I think shoelaces are a pain to deal with.

I've never learned how to tie my shoes the traditional way, so I invented my own method instead. My mother tried to teach me when I was a kid, and I almost got it, but I could just never get the last few steps down.
