Shouldn't they be even more of a minority in undergrad though, because they are "diluted" by the people who really don't like the subject that much (such as those studying biology only because they want a shot at the success/prestige of being a doctor)?

Not at caltech, but there are probably many like that at other schools.
BAP is probably stronger at caltech than anywhere else on earth.
I'm only talking about the populations I know here.
