Hi Kraftie!

How are you? I like both you guys. You always seem to genuinely try to encourage other people, and tend to brighten the mood of most threads you post to. :D

Hey, I lurked for a long time before participating.

Thanks Kraftie and Marcb0t :D and thanks for the info Marcb0t, it's helpful! I think I am a little excited at the prospect of getting a better job: I work at WalMart right now and I hate it there. I've often equated the whole experience with George Orwell's 1984: a place where everyone smiles and pretends to be happy, inside rigidly fearful of being watched too closely by Big Brother and his brainless, power-hungry pack of "managers". We also get the brain washing about how WalMart is such a great place to work on a regular basis, and look at all the great benefits we have here and we pay people above minimum wage, just don't mention the fact that people literally can't afford the benefits like company healthcare because even with an above minimum wage salary, they aren't given enough hours to live on with any comfort or the reassurance that a day off here and there won't bankrupt them. Sorry, rant over!

I used to be under a disability employment service thing called Linked Employment, but I didn't think much to it. It was nice to have a bit of support, but I didn't feel comfortable having someone coming with me to an interview. It makes me look more disabled than what I am, and I don't consider myself disabled at all really. I just feel I have ADHD and an anxiety disorder, and if the boss understands that (which I can tell him or her myself) then it shouldn't really interfere with my work, so long as the boss is aware. There's too much stigma and too many people overestimate things like Autism, and I prefer to keep all that to myself.

I don't mind having some support with looking for a job, filling out a difficult application, and/or having someone to just have a chat to, but them not needing to get too involved like coming to interviews with me and having to get every little detail about the workplace and the boss, etc. But when I was with this Linked Employment, I didn't have the choice to ask them to not get too involved, because part of their job role was to get very involved. I suppose it's because they need proof that they are giving full support to clients by receiving a written signature from the client's boss, which goes back to the head office of the Linked Employment company so that they will make their money.

I'm working with an agency that is supposed to help me with employment. My path is self-employment and yet they want to stick me with a job. In my opinion, they're very out of touch with what would make me comfortable. So far, I am not impressed.
