I don't see why this post has any bearing to be on this forum.

This is supposed to be a support site, not to mock those who are not as high functioning and refer to them as "useless" or a "waste of resources". How would you like it if someone called you that?

Human beings are not resources. I believe God uses those with disabilities to teach us the meaning of unconditional love.

That would be fair enough. Why would I be upset if your telling me truth? Lol

That's nice. That might be so.

Okay you guys who disagree.

What use would I be if all I did was be born, exist and die. What would be the point in that. Why would my parents have a kid...?

I asked my mum why she had me and she said ' I don't know'. I was kinda thinking wtf. If I don't have something to focus on or reason to exist I must create one.

I agree with the original poster. If I had a child who has what I have, I would opt for an abortion. I wouldnt wish autism/aspergers on anyone. This is absolutely horrific.

Just because one is a "waste of resources" right now doesn't mean that person needs to remain a "waste of resources."

One is only a "waste of resources" if one doesn't at least make an attempt to become useful in some way. As long as a person is making the attempt, that person is not a "waste" at all.

If a person, because of cognitive difficulties, can't become "useful" in the conventional sense, that person could become "useful" in other ways. Even being the "life of the party" is useful, in my opinion.

The only people who are a "waste" are those who have the capability to become useful, yet don't make use of that capability.

I knew a person with Angleman's Syndrome who was useful because he made the effort to everybody smile. So what if he can't speak? So what if he'll never become financially independent?

A lot of potential Autistic human resources that could be used are not because most of the world does not not how to use us. And many of us growing up in a world not geared for us go do not know how to use our resources.

As much as I miss B19 I am glad she is not here to read this website as of late. Name should be changed from "Wrong Planet" to "Blame the victim"
