I'm addicted to pull ups and yoga. Mountain bikes and skiing handle the rest with the added benefit of not losing my mind in crowds, hikes are nice and I've been learning to slackline. I'm even a decent rock climber but unicycles ellude me...

Hm, I think plenty of people that dont do it might have their own reasons for it, as opposed to just being lazy or something.

In my case, I dont want to do it because of the effects it would have. For a bunch of, er, reasons, I like to try to have a really androgynous look about me (and I've shown the occaisional photo elsewhere on the forum here; someone, I forget who, actually did mistake me for a girl at one point). It is important to me, even if it might be all sorts of bizarre to others, and is what I want. If I were to start working out alot... this effect would be broken. That's NOT what I want.

I still try to be decently active though. I like to walk/hike when possible, and I go for a swim every now and then (24/7 health club nearby with a big indoor pool), and stuff like that. None of it is what anyone would really call a "workout"... but it's something. And it beats ALWAYS just sitting in this accursed chair.

Well if the person is complaining about extra weight, i.e. fat, weight lifting isn't going to do much except maybe tone up the skin that's beneath inches of fat, and if you're doing weight lifting appropriately you're going to be gaining weight not losing it. My recommendation is heavy cardio, low sugar intake, moderate eating and moderate weight lifting. After the fat has been burned to a satisfactory level then back off the cardio to a moderate level and increase the weight lifting.

If you're doing it right and tracking calories and have your macro's at ideal levels then you should still be able to loose fat while gaining muscle...I know this is a highly controversial topic but that's my experience. If you are lifting weights hard and dieting and burning more cal's then you take in, you may not be loosing MUCH weight but you'll be loosing plenty of fat, it's just the added muscle mass can throw off the number on the scale, making scales a bad indicator for success. It's better to have a friend use a bodyfat calipers if weight loss is your goal.

Plus every pound of muscle you add burns 50 calories/day resting! Add 10 lbs of muscle and you'll be burning 500 more calories sitting on your a$$ watching tv.

In my experience when I was overweight and I used only cardio as a means of weight loss, it worked but I looked like a holocaust victim by the time I was done. Not lifting while trying to loose fat resulted in me loosing both fat and muscle and I didn't look healthy or attractive.

I weight lift, feels good as fuark.

Been doing it for a while but still quite small, because I wasn't eating enough.

HIIT cardio on the other hard, I do that when I cut but god damn a proper session feels horrible.

Good Point! Ascetics and physical health benefits aside, nothing has been better for my mental health then exercise specifically strength training

Cardio does wonders too and I love that runners high but I seriously hate cardio. I wish I could acquire a taste for it. When I'm cutting I force myself to do cardio. This last cycle I was running 3 mile stints 2-3 times a day, I dropped my body fat like crazy but my knees started to bother me, I think I was overdoing it lol.

I seriously think that people on the spectrum can benefit enourmsly from exercising and it seems like it's the one thing most are seriously reluctant to do. It's perfect for an aspie, you can do it alone, it takes very minimal coordination and the more focused you are the better your results are...No better "special interest" to have IMO

So you cycle bulk/cut cycles too? That's what I do as well and it's worked great for me. I always hate the cutting cycles though, cutting calories and doing consistent cardio is mentally challenging, but the payoffs are worth it when all that muscle you gain starts popping through your skin, I fuging luv it!

Bulk cycles are the best. Eating like savage animal I am, seeing the number of plates on that bar go up with time...god dam! I never thought I'd be able to have a good physique but I proved myself that anyones body can change to adapt to the stress you put on it.

I treat my body like a science experiment, diligently adjusting my calorie and nutrient intake and playing around with it to see what works best.

Have you ever ran a keto diet? It's really tough to do but I found it great for cutting. I seemed to loose fat quicker and I seemed to retain all my muscle, maybe even added some.

^ Haven't run a keto diet, but I don't have that many carbs while cutting anyway.

When cutting I generally have 1 carb meal to start the day (toast, eggs or cereal, cbf rice), and then eat tuna and meat to keep my protein up. I also have a protein shake which helps a lot. Generally while cutting I avoid milk but a glass or two here and there ain't too bad. I usually have my vegetables with dinner (broccoli, cauliflower etc.) and occasionally eat bananas throughout the day but my diet largely consists of meats & fish. Not a huge fan of nuts because the tasty ones are expensive as.

TBH I find it easier to cut than to bulk. It's incredibly hard for me to eat a crapton of food (I can meet protein & fat macros easily) because I'll always feel full, bloated, get heartburn etc. If I eat junk it's easier because of the greater caloric content but that's generally bad for you so I avoid it..

Keto diet. I've been having a had time figuring out if I should do this. I want to do it for mental health reasons, and the stomach pain I have a lot of the time, but I don't want to lose muscle, and I'd like to keep getting larger. Still looking like a ripped ectomorph. Not complaining, but since I'm obsessing on body building, why not go further? With Keto diet, there is a risk of kidney stones. Need to get a lot of Vitamin C, Vitamin D, Leucine, and more water than normally. Not sure if the risk of kidney stones remains.

That's why I can't stand it! Focusing on it is mental torture. I do not have the ability to just focus on whatever, just when I am thinking about something I think about it a lot.
