..one of the questions I asked on another forum was if you are not "neurolgicly typical" does that necc. mean you are AS?

And the answer is no. Which is why I like NAS for those not on the spectrum.

My husband likes to use the abbreviations NT (neurotypical) and AT (atypical) when talking broadly about a group of people. Like he considers my parents NT and my brother AT (not ASD or any disorder). For him, it's not confined to medicalized criteria but whether people are in the "pack" or not. For instance, he'll call a genius AT.

I suffer from N.T. How do I get cured? I would love to spend less time worrying about what other people think of me and be less worried about conforming!!

I'm afraid there's no real cure. Still, since most NAS's seem fairly capable of handling these issues without thinking, should it really be a problem at all?

It's a joke. Some sites have the joke where it's the other way around, where NT is the 'disease' and AS is normal!

Sorry. I don't have Asperger's. I am NT. It was my joke.

What I was trying to say is that many NT's spend great amounts of time and energy worrying about stupid stuff like what others think of them and wanting to conform.

That's why some of the great minds like Albert Einstein, Isacc Newton, Temple Grandin etc have achieved so much ... they haven't been wasting their time and energy worrying about stupid stuff.

My 7 year old son has Asperger's so I know the difficulties Aspies can encounter.
