What can I do about my brother's autism problem?
I want to give it a try.
It has been in my mind for a while now after finding that high levels of dopamine causing high levels of anxiety and the psychiatrist said that I had high levels of dopamine.
I don't like to take prescription drugs after having had bad experiences with them (anti-depressants).
Each time I go to the psychiatrist he starts talking about Abilify, he said that I do not see the benefit of it and I don't.
I want to try other ways.
Thank you for the information.
I don't do well on SSRIs, SNRIs or wellbutrin, but I do quite well on 2mg Abilify a day. Each drug is different, Abilify is like it's own class of drug. I understand your hesitation to try drugs in general, but it's illogical that because you have a bad experience with completely separate drugs for completely separate things, that you will not try a different one.
You realize that if you find a non-pharmaceutical equivalent that is effective that that is just taking another drug, right?

Well the older my brother gets, the more angrier and bitter becomes. Basically he is lonely because he would he can't make friends cause of his autism, or at least it's very hard, and ultimately he would like a mate.
As far as medications go, the reason why women will not go for him, to put it at basically, is that they think he is dumb, because of it. I don't mean to come off as harsh, but that's what they think, at the most basic level.
So I think there lies the root problem. In order to resolve it, is their a drug he could take that makes a person smarter? If a person is autistic for example, is their a drug that can increase intelligence or brain function, so that it could make him a more acceptable person to the opposite gender?
I mean the reason he has anger and anxiety is because he is has trouble with processing information. So instead of being prescribed drugs that help reduce anger and anxiety, wouldn't be it be better to be on a drug that helps process information, since that is the root problem?

So there is med at all that can possibly help a person process information better at all?
I feel like any other meds are just circumventing the problem, rather than attacking the root, if that makes sense. I mean is circumvention really the answer, just because the medical world does not have anything better, so you might as well just take what their is?
