I'm assuming your parents are NT and are trying to cope with having an Aspie child.

I'm afraid even if Jesus Christ and Mother Theresa were your parents they would still be feeling anxious/frustrated and for many parents this externalises (often unintentionally) as nagging, raised voices or trying to make you (at least) appear more nuerotypical.

Your father does not want you to wear ear muffs because (to him) it's like his child is wearing a sign at school asking kids to "kick me". I'm sure he knows you need it but it's just his own anxiety that you will become reliant on these and he wants you to be self-reliant in managing noise issues.

When you were born your parents would have had dreams about what you will become/achieve as a teen. What they are experiencing is disappointment. I realise you are only 14 but you need to be understand your parents are human too. They have weaknesses which you can use to your advantage but you will need to give something back (to them) if you want them to be more conciliatory.

However, If you reach a point where you think they are being unreasonable, irrational and hurting you then take steps to seek mediation from a third party (school counselor?). Parents can be pig headed and don't want to listen to their child or understand what their child is going through. If nothing is resolved then don't panic, be smart and seek help. Their behavior does not appear abusive but if you think it crosses that line then you have a right to leave. Unfortunately at 14 you will have to move into foster care and I'm sure you don't want that.

I am sorry you are going trough this. I think the nail biting comment is because you can get serious infections from nail biting. And they can be hard to treat. I don't know how contagious the are though but I do know that you can get them.
When I was a kid, I got stage 3 impetigo from biting my nails. And it is incredibly infectious. Broke out in boils everywhere and had to be treated by people wearing gloves and the infected areas had to be wrapped to contain the infection. My legs looked like the mummy. This happened while visiting my mother. What was bad was that my Step mother saw it and took me to the doctor immediately and heard the doctor giving her hell for not having it seen to earlier. So, I got both extremes, one caring, the other not caring. So, I prefer the caring, even if it bugs the crap out of me.

As for parent's, criminy, I'm here for the holidays and mine are driving me nuts!! BTW...I'm 55 so, it may never end....sorry for the bad news.

Impetigo sounds extremely painful.

Definitely not fun. And the boils did hurt very much. Especially when it would be two or three next to each other.

It's so infectious that when it would burst while asleep, any area that the pus touched became infected and it spread until mummified.

Impetigo sounds extremely painful.
