Ruveyn?? I wonder what happened to the guy.

Someone even posted a thread inquiring as to his situation since he stopped posting. I've been here long enough to see his posts, and he was near 80. I just looked up his profile and he is 82 now, hopefully he's doing well but sadly there's no way to know unless someone knows him or someone who's personally related to him.

For me, it's a glitch/error. I am 61, not 118.

Social media is not good at death announcements. I had a friend stop responding to email, and after it had been going on for two years, I happened to notice a mutual acquaintance posting on a BBS. I asked, and our friend had died. His friends had held a local service, but whoever shut down his computer had not thought (or been able?) to send out a message to his contact list. I was the first to break the news to a half dozen of his out of town friends.
His body had not been found for days, and it was a big surprise, as he was generally expected to last another three decades. Maybe we get better at this with experience.
The only time I had to tell a friend that a mutual friend had died early, I didn't know what to say, but I called up, and said that it was too late to go visit him. Why? "Well, he didn't wake up this morning."
One thing I didn't have to contend with earlier is a reluctance to make new friends, even though old ones are going, because there's a 50% chance it means going to their funeral too.

I've been over 70 for over a week now, so it looks like it will stick. I got one card, and made myself some cookies for some candles. I forgot to make a wish, though, and if I'd wished for someone to share them with, I would still probably have been disappointed. I also got one automated message from a BBS. This decade starts off with more resignation - if Tesla and Sidis couldn't give an idea away in their last decades, I should not expect too much. Also, an old friend has moved to a hospice, and seems to be sleeping a lot. Another is merely losing his ability to have a rational discussion. <sigh>

Probably for the same reasons younger people are drawn here.

Being this age feels normal to us. We've been getting used to it for decades. As long as we keep learning, which we sometimes do here, we are still growing. For me, WP is still a novelty - I spent more years in general-purpose therapy than I have lived since knowing AS was involved.

Faith92, I mean no offense. I was just wondering what that thing was around your neck.
