Did you know that if your post doesn't post, that you can recover it by pressing the back button a couple of times, and your work will still be there. :D

To me this is really weird. I just browse WP and post. Every few months or so I have to log in. That's all.

Correction, they just made me tick a box that said I was human. I should have kept my mouth shut. If it gets too tricky to post, I'm out of here.

Like I said I'm there are lots of little tricks that can be performed by me to get around a bad glitch.

But that's not the solution I was trying to push.

What people are basically doing is telling WP the problem should remain instead of being fixed.

Not at all what I had in mind but whatever.

Oh I agree with you, definitely.

It absolutely baffles me that the people in charge of this site would want to keep that nightmare of a service. It's like they're paying someone to punch them in the face over and over. I REALLY dont want to know why. The anti-logic of it would just irritate me, dont need that right now.

I just wish they'd do away with it and find a service that, you know, DOES something. Something that is actually helpful... what a concept, eh?

Instead... I log in, look at the gaming section, and WHAT A SURPRISE. More bots. Sigh...

I've been having the same problem. Even on my PC. There's threads I just can't post on, even if I open and re-open the reply box.

I fill in captcha, it sends me back to my reply, I paste my reply... and the cycle continues.

Sometimes after several tries it goes through.

Makes me upset.

Still doesn't work for me in most cases.

Yep. Apparently, I can post brief, short blurb-ettes.

Anything more complicated dredges up the Captcha. I don't get it.

For some weird reason, the above happens to me all the time. It is worse on the weekends. Weekends are brutal on my phone. Sometimes it's just not worth the 6 attempts.

Type a reply, hit the submit button. Captcha nonsense, then some Google compression nonsense, have to hit reload with the 50/50 chance that my typed reply might be there or vaporized even if I hit the previous page reload.

It's crap.

Put new subscribers on a 4 day wait to post. Or 2 or 1 day. Almost all my boards I visit do that now.

It would stink if you REALLY want/need to post, but this taking 10 mins to get a reply through is crazy. It wouldn't have been acceptable 10 years ago.

Aspiecentral and a place I think called Asperclick are two other ASD forums I know about. Not sure if they will meet your needs but I know I don't have Captcha issues with the first. Haven't been on the second in a while.

I get that tick box and then it shows a selection of images and I have check the right ones in order to prove that I'm not a robot.

I can't even makes sense of two-thirds of those extreme-close-up, blurry, images. "Is it a slice of cake or is it a road sign? Is it a river or a lake?!?" Useless.

Good to know that. In future I won't look down on people who make several short posts in succession on the same thread, I will see the method in their madness.

If Alex Plank had the need/desire to post here on a regular basis, these problems would have been fixed a long time ago.... and we would all be a lot happier.

Ezra, I have the same frustrations when trying to make a long quote or a long post, which is occasionally necessary when attempting to resolve problems or refer to other posts, which a mod often has to do.

The problem is administrative. Mods unluckily don't have the tools to fix this gremlin. I wish we did.

Not long ago I was sent in endless circles of captcha and having to tick off little pictures with trucks or grass until I realized it was never gonna work because my post with the quotes as evidence / backup, were too long and the robotic system would never let it pass.

Alex's posts are always short so he's unlikely to encounter the problem himself. He is aware of it as messages have been sent to him in this regard.
