Anyone else feel like this when you’re around strangers-especially if they’re around you on all sides fairly close?

I can “feel” them around me. I’m not sure with what sense. It’s not sight, not sound, or smell (though smell bothers me). None of those things that I know of. But I can “feel” them and kind of pinpoint where they are.

They’re sort of like…a presence, or a bump, or a pinpricks or something. I can’t describe it well at all. Makes me more anxious…I think sort of like there are predators around me or something.

Just wondering if that makes sense to anyone.

the power of the force is strong in you.yesss

more seriously although i agree you just get that feeling somethings near or approaching.
it bugs the hell out me sometimes!

Yes. I've suggested this before - it's like an electromagnetic field that everyone has and other people's impinge on mine. It interferes with my thoughts and concentration and I can't relax and I just want them to go the f*** away.

here, here..i agree it is very iratating when someone is around me while i am in my head, which is most of the time....unless its someone really close to me then i tune out my agressiveness and come out of my concentration ..

i think its a combination of their body heat and the sound waves bouncing off of others body coupled with our natural ability to pick up on those little details that can prove to be more nerveracking than anything...

for example, like during a scary movie when someone covers their eyes because they do not want to see what will happen...i think our senses pull our eyes further open by the second to what surrounds us....

Maybe the lot of us are all psychic, what with our sensing energy fields and all :)

Whatever it is, I'm glad it's not just me.

I feel that way alot of the time, from when I am out in a crowd to when I am home with family. It is people coming into my energy, they send of different fields of energy that can conflict with yours depending on how they are feeling. Some people refer to it as clairvoyance and I think it is the best way to describe it. Read this from wikipedia- http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clairvoyance

Strangers or relatives, it doesn't matter. When I sense many people around me my skin crawls. Its not about not liking them, its more of a space issue. Get out of my personal space! I would rather they were lined up in front of me rather than circling around. I can feel people looking at me when my back is turned to them, I turn around and I'm right. Not sure what that sense is. It doesn't seem logical to know that someone is staring at the back of your head. I feel like all my senses are more elevated than others.

I feel downright claustrophobic when I'm around too many people.

I tend to panic with any group around me...too many different voices, too many different conversations, too many overwhelming energies closing in on me... I cannot really be in a crowd without suffering to some degree. Last time I was surrounded in this way for Xmas in a Marks and Spencers store during the xmas sales.

I lost sight of my mother and became aggressive, swearing at people who were jossling and nudging me in their animalistic, primitive need to get to the clothes first. They reminded me of rabid vultures. I ended up bursting into tears and hiding in a corner until she appeared.

I get a real feeling of uneasiness and fear when there are large groups of people around me that I don't know. Being an enclosed space is a nightmare - I remember one horrible occasion when I was in my village's local pub (having been invited there by some workmates) and I was being surrounded by people I had next to no idea about, who were all touching my head and ruffling my hair for some reason. That was bad enough, because I could feel a rising sense of panic building up in my gut... and then some jerkwad dumped a glass of water down the back of my neck.

At that point, I was out the door faster than a whippet with a bumful of dynamite. I was shaking profusely and my heart was racing.

This was not an enjoyable moment.

If I am in a familiar place where I know where the "safe zones" and exits are,
crowds don't bother me. Anywhere else it feels like I'm swimming in a tank
full of sharks.

I feel like I want to get out of the room right away. Reminds me of jury duty, not only are you worried about being called to the jury, but being with a bunch of strangers is stressful enough.

Sounds like me. I go to the local "Y" in the morning to exercise. The people that go in the early morning are very friendly and I socializle with several of them. Even those I don't know usually give off pretty comfortable "vibes."

But, if I'm there past 8:00 AM, I don't like those people at all. I tend to leave quickly. They tend to be much ruder and less open to others.

The "early birds" are very open to all kinds of people. We get together every December at a local restaurant for a holiday lunch. I was very surprised my first December when someone (it turns out a former -- now married -- priest and a great person), approached me and invited me. I've felt comfortable with those people ever since, and have seen them be welcoming to other people who are clearly "different" as well, including a young man with obvious developmental delays.
