Lol same for me

Same for me in some situations, especially if I'm dining out alone and am recognized by someone I know. I try to be nice but what I'm really thinking is: "Please shut up and pretend you don't know me so I can go back to listening to this interesting podcast with my earbuds in."

I'm becoming more and more mute, to the extent that every day I barely say a word to anyone.

Actually I find Sunn o))) a little too busy for me, unless I'm in a metal mood-- which does happen, but not usually at work. I usually listen to the same 4 or 5 albums during work. That's why I stopped using LastFM because there were these handful of things I'd always listen to and everything else looked miniscule next to it.

The albums, if you're curious, are:

Oophoi and Tau Ceti - Subterranea
Oophoi - Hymns to a Silent Sky (The track "The Unbearable Sadness of Memory" is one of my favs)
Steve Roach - Structures From Silence (especially the track "Reflections in Suspension")
Steve Roach - Darkest Before Dawn
Steve Roach - The Dream Circle

All excellent. I had a load of Oophoi and Roach a few years back but lost it all in a hard-drive crash. How about Deep Listening Band? I have their first album and it's beautiful.

Yes! The first album was recorded in a water cistern with a 45 second reverb echo. An amazing record. It's nice to know someone else who has actually heard of them :)

Does anyone find that some days even listening to someone talk to you a problem , so much so that it doesn't matter what's said it just irritates you even if its a loved one. I don't know if its a sensory issue or not but I just feel like telling them to shut up ( never do ) , then feel like I'm a terrible person.

Yes, often. And my best Aspie friend has the same issue. Sometimes we can't even talk to each other. The cool thing with us is that we understand this issue so well that we are always glad to accommodate each other and either just text or not communicate at all if one or both of us is unable to tolerate speech. This happens very often. And yes, it is a sensory overload or emotional overload issue which are two things that Aspies struggle with a lot all the time.

That's good stuff, fantastic for meditation.

I spent most of my life, forced by circumstances to live with relatives. By the time I was twelve I realized that I preferred being alone, and by the time I was an adult I desperately wanted to live alone, but could never manage it financially. Finally, a little over eleven years ago I moved into a trailer, where I live by myself. I have never been sorry about the move. I lived alone for a short time before that, first in a shelter, and then in a relatives dilapidated fixer upper for several months, and then I moved into this trailer. In the shelter I had to share the dorm with others, and some of them were kind of weird, as they had drug or other problems that affected their behavior, so I was glad to get out of there. I was alone in the fixer upper, except for all the bugs and mice. The place was a disaster, so I was glad to get out of there, too. I am much better off in this old trailer. It's not in mint condition, but it's not bad, either, and my stress levels went way down once I was finally here. I realize that some people prefer to be with other people, and don't have a problem with that, but I need to be alone most of the time.
