I double check to see if my car door is locked, too. Sometimes, I'll be sitting on the couch, relaxed, reading or watching television, then I feel compelled to check.

I REALLY like cats, if I see one in the street I'll make my way over to it or try to coax it over to pay it some attention. Sometimes this causes me to get waylaid or more at least more delayed than is reasonable. My wife says, although adorable, it is something that should have raised questions for her much earlier with regards to my recent ASD diagnosis.

I used to to be that way towards cats when I was younger. Sometimes I would even take them inside to give them a bath and brush their hair.

So many to choose from. I think the most unique is that I always check vehicles for expired license plate tabs.
If I'm riding with my friends I let them know so they can stay clear of it. When I'm driving I only check the car in front of me unless I'm at a stop light, then I'll look around at others. Oddly I can't ever remember any license plate numbers after looking away.

other quirks include:
-I keep a schedule of which clothes I should wear each day so I don't have to make a decision every morning.
-When falling asleep I sometimes stim by shaking me head "no" repeatedly.
-If I have to spend one night somewhere other than my place I always pack 3 days worth of clothes and supplies just in case.
-I can't throw away a cardboard box unless I have one of similar size already stored away. Half my boxes are from Amazon shipments.


Food:
I alternate pizza for dinner every other night. I fill the gaps with either fast food (once per week, either Tuesday or Wednesday depending if I had pizza the previous night), chicken patties, or chicken strips.
I eat the same lunch at work that I bring Monday-Thursday. For Friday-Sunday I repeat a different set at home.
I eat cold cereal every morning (sometimes depends on what was on special/sale the previous week, but there is only 5 brands I like). I eat the last box of cereal before opening a new one.

I got in trouble with my old neighbours a few years ago for effectively coaxing their cat to live with me. I didn't mean to but he always brightened up my day when he came to visit.



I keep all my t-shirts inside out to eliminate option paralysis and introduce an element of randomness/variety to my choices (even though they're almost all black)

For me? Hmm. There really aren't many. I do talk to myself a lot, but that's partly so that I remember things. Sort of makes up for sketchy working memory. So I guess that's useful.

Yeah, Im a bit of a lock checker but thought that was more an OCD quirk than Aspie.

I often line up/reorganize objects in a store. I was in a store a week ago where they had a box with those large plastic Hershey's Kisses Candy Canes and I wasted five minutes turning them so that they all faced the same direction. When I'm bored shopping for clothes with my mom, I'll turn the hangers around so that the hooks all face the same way.

I also have a habit of avoiding stepping on cracks or seams in the ground. It's almost like a little game I play everywhere I go to always step between cracks and not on them. It sometimes looks like I have an odd gait because of that.

I asked my therapist about the locks thing, and they told me it was a "repetitive behavior," and didn't seem to be concerned about possible ocd. The checking sometimes causes me to be late for things, so I wish I wouldn't.

I howl like a wolf and meow like a cat on the New York City subway.

People look at me funny.

Thats interesting , I haven't been formerly diagnosed with OCD or ASD ( on a very long waiting list ) but recently put lock checking down to OCD. Luckily for me it has never made me late for anything as I hate being late , I'd rather have that nagging feeling that I didn't lock the car than be late somewhere.

I meow too. I also only will wear certain colors of clothes and shoes and I only eat about five different meals because of my food texture issues.

i've done this, but it's not too regular.

mostly i obsess over making sure all my pencils are perfectly sharpened, there are ZERO graphite smudges on my drawings and wear down my erasers big time trying to clear those out, which is oddly soothing. i like leaving lots of eraser shavings.

i like communicating in lowercase, and not just here. when i'm texting someone i make the effort to go back and uncapitalize all the "i"s and the beginnings of sentences.

all the key checkers here could probably get along with my dad. he always gets on my case about leaving the front door unlocked overnight and not locking my car when i'm in a hurry, leaving it wide open to thugs.

(but who else would want a '90 camry?)

I can relate to the love of cats. I feel compelled to pet any cat I see. There are many cats on my street. Some of them are feral cats we are responsible for. There is one beautiful Siamese we have had since 2001. Unfortunately, she is feral, so I can't pet her.

When one of my favorite tennis players makes a really good shot, I make a "ME-OW!" sound like a cat.

I might say (having to) saying hi to dogs and other animals we see, but I know that's not specifically an autistic thing!

Walking on concrete. You know those poured slabs several feet long. Like many aspies and software developers patterns are a large part of our lives. When I'm by myself I seem conscious that I should be walking an even number of stops within each slab.
