Depends on the noise. I enjoy silence as much as the next aspie, but gunfire is incredibly cathartic.

I like certain loud noises, they're a sensory treat. My mind goes blank and then I feel all these sparks across it.

Industrial sounds mainly: trains, drills, machinery...

59:45 in this soundtrack for the kind of thing I mean:

No, I am not a fan of loud noises. There are situations and places where I tolerate it(like going to a basketball game) as it is excepted but it's not an aspect I like.

Not a fan of things that hurt my ears and rattle my brain.

I find its best to work or study in silence. I struggle to work well in a classroom because people talk.

Sometimes when I get startled by a loud noise, I feel an electric zap on my tongue. Does anyone else get this?

I like loud music in my headphones. But not like loud music blaring in like an auditorium or theater. I also like train horns and the loud boom of train cars coupling. It makes me cringe, but I still like it for some reason. I like the sound of loud car and motorcycle engines if I am prepared for it like at a car show. Although with all those I am wearing noise reducing headphones.

There's a train yard in my neighborhood I like to hang out by. I really like the sound of the train cars coupling because it has a domino sounding effect. The train horn in the distance is awesome because I like the sound as each whistle gets quieter as the train gets further away.

Some aspies are hyper sensitive - some are hypo sensitive. Hyposensitive people tend to seek strong sense-input to even out the balance.

I once lived with another aspie who was hypersensitive to tastes - I shared some of my jalapeno doritos with him once and he said they set his mouth on fire - but hyposensitive to noise. He blared his music so loud on his earbuds that I could hear it when he walked into the room, and I had no idea how he could stand it. Then again, his stepdad, a big music collector and audio buff, tended to play his music loud too.

I actually kinda miss living with that family. I feel like if I had the opportunity to stay with them longer, I'd be in a much better place in life.

I subscribe to the principle that, for the most part, silence is golden.

I hate loud noises, especially sudden ones. They make me jump out of my skin. I also hate noises from cars, airplanes, and the like, that are loud enough to make me go deaf.

Loud noises don't actually bother me. I don't particularly crave them, but I don't really dislike them either. When I listen to my music, I love to play it loudly to get the full sonic experience.
However, I do find other people's music annoying (especially when somebody is sitting next to me and they're wearing headphones, and the music leaks out so you hear the tinny cymbals, hi-hats etc. of whatever they're listening to), but not enough to make me feel anxious or scared. It's more of a little niggle than anything.

It's more so specific sounds or certain songs that bother me, rather than the loudness of them.

Silence and pure darkness is golden at night time, though. Otherwise I get distracted and can't sleep.

I love loud music. Although, I have a baby sister so I can't play the majority of my music out loud.

I hate all loud noises. I don't listen to music, but when I'm in a car and the driver is playing it loudly, I can't stand it.

Depends on the noise. I don't mind loud machinery, i.e. chainsaws, stationary power tools, buses, trains, or loud music.

I am not especially fond of loud people because then I can't follow what's going on anymore. It just turns into background noise and it means I can't hear what I or anyone else is saying, even if I'm standing right next to them.

Sudden noises depend on what they are. If they're expected, I quite enjoy them. Not so much if they're unexpected.

I love certain loud music like Led Zeppelin, Nirvana, and many other hard rock, punk, and grunge bands. I hate most metal though except Black Sabbath's first three albums, the hits from Metallica's Black Album, and the Melvins.

That's interesting. I think most people, who like Sabbath, would say they like the first six albums (the ones with Ozzy singing). I was wondering why you don't like 'Vol. 4', 'Sabbath Bloody Sabbath' and 'Sabotage'? I think, on the whole, they are a little less metal and more proggy than then previous 3.

I remember a slightly tongue-in-cheek Henry Rollins quote from years back that went something like "Who can you trust, apart from me and the first six Black Sabbath albums" :)

This is about my dad, not me. I hate loud sounds.

My dad has questioned a few times if he could be on the spectrum. But whether he is or isn't is not up to me to decide. He also plays music very loudly.

I've always heard about Aspies being sensitive to loud noises. Is there anyone who doesn't mind them and/or actually LIKE them?

Loud music, I can deal with, if I like the music, and hopefully I'm controlling the volume. Loud unwanted sounds (including music that I'm not interested in), especially sudden unpredictable sounds, no way. If your dad enjoys that type of stuff, then I would seriously doubt he has ASD.

I dislike almost all prog except Pink Floyd and Frank Zappa for some strange reason.
