Oh gawd, random people touching me!! !! ! I want to jump out of my skin and/or hurt someone!

I'm not even that comfortable with acquaintances touching me. I can only accept it from loved ones.

Yes, they do.
I don't like going when there are a lot of people. I try to go when it's not as busy.
The worst part is just feeling drained afterward. All that visual stimulation tires me easily.

I don't feel overwhelmed in supermarkets, but do get a little stressed out when there's a queue to pay, as I'm paranoid about knowing there's probably going to be someone standing behind me. I have to resist the urge to keep looking back at them.

Kinda.

I will make a detailed grocery list, and sometimes stop halfway through the list just to call it a day and get out of the place.

It's taken me years to accept that I don't have to endure my anxieties if I don't want to , I have yet to walk out of a supermarket if things get on top but I would now and not feel bad about it for long.

I wish I can walk to the supermarket. I needed an envelope & stamps, I asked my grandmother for envelope & stamps, she thinks I can still walk to the supermarket, I wish I can if I walk there, the supermarket is almost 6 blocks away. I'm having problems with my muscles in my legs.

No, it's one of the things I get to get out and do regularly. I just do the same routine over and over. It helps that I put my grocery list in the order that the aisles are in.

I quite enjoy going to the supermarket when it's not too crowded. I can think better. Smells and lights don't bother me, and the only noise that bothers me is the sound of kids. I feel a burning anger inside me when there is a toddler near me screaming and crying. Makes me wish there was a creche or something where people can leave their brats while they do their shopping. That would make shopping so much more bearable.

Which is great until the supermarket decides to have an impromptu reshuffle in a bid to make your look all over for what you want in the hope of you spotting something that you might want and not need - it feels like pyschological warfare.

I use the same supermarket every week and have learned to cope with the occasional changes in merchandise. I go into a "bubble" and just grin my way around. My son, also ASD, gets upset and confused by them and has huge difficulties and occasional meltdowns.

I don't feel overwhelmed in supermarkets but I do get a bit annoyed if items that I expect to find in their usual place are now located to a different aisle. I can also get a bit angry and impatient when waiting to make payment especially if people ahead of me seem to take forever to pack their items and pay for them. I don't normally need to use a shopping list if I'm only looking for a few items but I do find them useful when I need to buy more than that.

They do. Especially those big mega-markets they have these days.

I go to Trader Joe's. There are fewer options there, so it's less overwhelming. Also, I make a list so I don't have to remember stuff while I'm there. That helps.

They can be overwhelming to me when I am tired and they are full of crying children, slow elderly people and loud music.

On quieter hours however, I quite enjoy going there. I like cooking and enjoy shopping for food, so I try to go when there aren't so many people and enjoy my trip.
