I'm really sensitive to caffeine and it took a long time to realize it.If I have too much it can either make me very, very manic or very, very fatigued.Redbull, cola, and chocolate too.Since most decaf still holds a percentage of caffeine, even a cup or two of that stuff gives me a slight coffee buzz.Regardless,I love the stuff and still drink it when I can,I just have to limit how much I drink and take breaks from it sometimes.

When looking into this a few years ago,I learned that particularly high toxicity of caffeine can resemble schizophrenia, and some emergency-room misdiagnoses have occured.I've known people who consume pots of coffee each day and suffer seriously for it.It's really a very powerful drug, but most of us overlook that since it is so ubiquitous and accepted.

I rarely drink coffee. I usually drink tea, but I'm very sensitive to it and if I overdo it I get really shaky. But sometimes it makes me sleepy, too. I have a feeling it lowers my blood sugar. Chocolate doesn't seem to affect me at all.

I can feel very "clouded" when I've had too much coffee and sometimes even tea, seeing as how they both contain caffeine. It stimulates my concentration up until a point and then I find it difficult to think about anything difficult. Similar to trying to do calculus when you're drunk, rather challenging :) So yeah I don't drink more than two cups of coffee per day.

I feel that my reaction to caffeine varies. I just wish that I knew what caused the different reactions.
Sometimes I can drink four large cups of coffee during the morning and just have a pleasant buzz and can concentrate on my work just fine, sometimes after two I get a kind of floating not in my body feeling and am unable to concentrate on anything.

I don't know if this is just because I have just started noticing all the stimming that I had been doing, but when I had a couple cups of coffee I seemed to be stimming more and even caught myself going up on the balls of my feet.

I find that a couple cups of tea will wake me up better than coffee will. I wonder if I am overdosing on caffeine with the coffee. Or is there some other chemical that plays around with me?

Caffeine generally makes me sleepy. I can drink coffee and go right back to sleep. I might not sleep as well but I fall asleep without much effort. I might have a fitful sort of sleep, but I can do it nonetheless.

Caffeine causes me to feel energetic but simultaneously sleepy... But I don't know if that's anything different than it should be. When it gets to late I lose focus really easily, and sometimes that's difficult to distinguish from the effects of caffeine if I've just consumed some chocolate.

Caffeine makes me energetic and clear-thinking for a bit, but it also gives me anxiety and heart palpitations, and sometimes difficulty drawing a deep breath. I try to stay away from it for the most part. Caffeine does not keep me up at night if I drink it late in the evening, though. I can sleep easily.

um...but whenever I have Starbucks coffee, I feel as though I have been drugged...this weird messy cloudy feeling comes over me.

Caffeine is my Ritalin. As for Starbucks- over-roasted and overrated. Starbucks has one other effect
on me:

Today I drank a cup of coffee, and my mind went blank - I was just staring at something, feeling detached. I got an urge to close my eyes, curl up and swing from side to side. I couldn't do that, because I was at café. For some reason, caffeine makes me stim. Sometimes it also causes some obsessive thoughts - I start thinking about one certain subject, and I just can't think anything else. It makes me anxious.

Why coffee sometimes affects me like this? Does anybody else have this problem?

I can identify with the sleepiness, the other stuff though... sounds almost like a fit?

Coffee can calm a lot of ASD/ADHD sufferers down, and quite a few sufferers of ADHD self medicate using caffeine. However, it isn't like that with everyone. It's Autism Spectrum Disorder for a reason.

I used to drink way too much caffeine on a daily basis.

I mean 3x 20 oz sofas, and at least 2x 12 oz cups of coffee ( with a lot of sugar )

It messed me up badly. I've since stopped drinking caffeine and feel 100% better.

It's been two years now, and I won't go back to caffeine.
