I also did not have meltdowns when I was a kid. I had numerous shutdowns though. Now I do both. I also stim in ways that I never did as a kid. I always stimmed, but now my stimming has expanded quite a bit and I have many stims now that I did not have then. I have also developed speech issues as I got older. I now have selective mutism which I prefer to call situational mutism. I also have episodes now which make me think I might be having petite mal seizures. I did not have them as a kid. I also do not have the ability to socialize like i did before. It was not that much then but it's really bad now. My sensory sensitivities are also much more severe. I have actually been labeled severely Autistic now for legal and professional purposes. I am pretty sure that that I could not have been labeled severely Autistic as a kid.
