Aspies see the world differently? what does it mean?

^^ Kind of a perfect example of the type of experience that colors the Autistic worldview and makes it different from the NT.
Our sensory wiring is simply an alternate schematic than the norm - it isn't just visual, it's across the sensory spectrum - taste, touch, sound, etc - absolutely everything we experience, every waking moment of our lives is experienced differently than what normal people see, hear, smell, taste, feel - and therefore THINK.
If the data going INTO the brain is processed differently, the personality formed as a result of that data is naturally going to be different in it's fundamental nature, than a personality formed by Neurotyical experiences.
That has everything to do with our tendencies (for instance):
To interpret statements literally, when they were intended to be sarcasm;
To recognize situations in which an act of empathy would be appropriate, yet find ourselves unable to respond correctly;
To see gray areas in social/moral arguments, where the NT consensus sees only black and white;
To be easily distracted by "insignificant" details and find things like eye contact to be overpoweringly intense and unpleasant;
To be fascinated, or even obsessed by subjects others find boring, pointless, strange or even offensive;
To find the new, the sudden, the unexpected to be overwhelming and upsetting, and to require intricate redundant routines in order to prevent the possibility of unpleasant surprises
And so on...
The neurotypical brain is not burdened by any of this, so the way they see the world they live in from moment-to-moment, is radically different than the world we see, even though (ostensibly) they are the same world.
