I totally enjoy being around family and friends. Alone time isn't good for me, just causes anxiety and unpleasant obsessive behavior.

I'm just back from the local farmer's market, where I know the vendors pretty well. I'm having waves of stress relief at having probably survived the encounters without seeming too odd.

I never got the "visiting" thing with family and friends... you just sit around looking at each other and wondering how soon you can go home without offending anyone. The coffee is usually disgusting.

... and... have you ever pretended to be out when someone has called?

No, quite the opposite. I used to even go to parties when I was sick because I thought I had to be thankful to be invited and because I didn't want to miss anything ever. I became more relaxed over time and I'm capable of telling people I cannot meet them because I am too tired or because I have something important to do.
Also, I usually don't pretend, because I'm really bad at lying.
