The ''autistic women masking'' always sounded suspicious to me. As if it was a try to shift the weight of the diagnosis from the diagnostician to their patients... The problem to my theory is that somehow many autistics play along and admit to be masking(ie trying to survive). To my obsevations that doesn't really match up to the number of men who also ''mask'' and the women who don't try to. I might be just biased though.

Agree with you completely, when it comes to psychologists. However, keep in mind that people only tend to see psychologists when there is already knowledge that something is atypical.

Before psychologists are involved, probably the most well-trained person at spotting neurodiversity that most children see on a regular basis is a teacher. I'd absolutely forgive a teacher for not spotting neurodiversity in a child who's good at masking it, since spotting neurodiversity isn't exactly their specialisation.

There's nothing wrong with being homophobic. It isn't any different than being arachnophobic.

I had all male interests as a child. Only wanted to wear Levi's and t shirts. Cars, motorcycles, planes etc. I liked those types of toys.

I entertained myself during school recess pretending the playground was the ocean floor.

I was that kid who HAD no interest in feelings or people. I only wanted to learn facts. People including parents were a pain in the azz to me. My family waited in vain for me to show any kind of emotion. Teachers hated me as I was disruptive in class out of sheer boredom. I didn't see the point of reading fiction. I wanted facts only.

No wonder my mom was under the care of a psychiatrist. She felt so alone and inadequate trying to deal with me that she was diagnosed with anxiety. Mom is a lively NT. We were living far from her family and my dad was out to sea a lot or working up north.

I bit holes in every sippy cup made of hard plastic, ran around a lot, beat up all the other kids in nursery school.

I'm the exact same way. I hate it when people want attention over knowledge. I have no interest in trading attention. Because of this I avoid people most of the time.

Ah yes, because gay people are well known for hiding under people's beds, and make webs in order to catch their prey.

Being homophobic is nothing like being arachnophobic. When people say that they're homophobic, they usually don't jump out of freight whenever they see a gay person approach them akin to a spider, it's not a fear but rather a hatred...although it is true that a fear of something often fuels/leads to hatred.

Arachnophobia may lead to running out the room or squashing spiders. Homophobia leads to people being persecuted, ridiculed, and discriminated against. Although the linguistic root of the word suggests fear, these days is it used to describe a certain kind of prejudice and discrimination. Saying homophobia is like arachnaphobia is like saying racism is the same as arachnophobia.

Seriously Buc, you are saying a lot of things which can be taken as very offensive.

Then don't assume. I have female NT friends, well-educated that don't want to have kids, some others (also NT) with less degrees that don't want to have kids either. I have AS, and two kids (one of them with AS too) though I didn't want to have children at the beginning, and I had to develop maternal instinct because that wasn't natural to me, it took some time but it seems I become pretty great with kids, although I'm definitely a very unconventional mom. My brother has AS too and he has always wanted to have children, he's a great programmer living in Europe and he's doing quite well. I have no degrees yet, but I'll be resuming my career next year. About tatoos, it's not a priority to me but I'd like to have one of a nautilus shell if I go for it.

Btw, many women today don't want to have kids 'cause they're sick of society trying to impose them the role of mothers.

If I wanted to make the news, I could present multiple accounts where gay celebrities have sexually harassed me. I've also punched gay guys for sexual harassment. One time a gay touched my stomach, and when I went to punch him, he curled up into a little ball on the ground and everyone looked at me like I was commiting a hate crime.

I have every right to be homophobic. Want to hear about a kid I knew growing up who was molested and would talk about getting molested whenever he'd get too drunk?

Can I please request that people refrain from making any further comments on this thread about homophobia?

The way I see this trending, the thread's going to be locked soon if it continues down this path, and I don't want that. It was created with a very good subject that deserves to be discussed.

I second this motion. Let's go back to talking about women with 3 degrees and no kids.

I was kind of a tomboy. I liked riding my big wheel and playing in mud with my siblings. I loved to rough house with my siblings and my dad. I rough housed with my best friend and her brother as well. I also liked girly things like playing with dolls and wearing dresses to church. I my sense of humour was and still as a raunchy as my brother's sense of humor. I also try not to be too weird around people.

I suppose you're right, but it's hard not to question some of the stuff Buc says, because it seems quite troubling.

Buc, if you've been sexually harassed then of course you deserve the chance to speak out about it! You shouldn't let them walk Scott-free just because of their celebrity status. However, not all gay people out there are molesters or harassers. It sounds like you're going through a lot of trauma right now, and could use someone to talk to. Have you considered therapy? Talking through what happened to both you and your childhood friend might really help.

Another thing for females can be lack of facial expressions and no/few friends being mistaken as depression (my case), or autism behaviors as part of a different mental disorder.

I'm not going through trauma, I'm in West Hollywood right now. My examples were meant to prove a point, that gay guys create homophobia. Maybe women shouldn't worry about something that doesn't pertain to them?
