I have to write down what is being said to learn. I often watch something first (with subtitles on, subtitles really help me) and then watch it again pausing and taking notes. Then I try to write a paragraph or 2 without reference to the notes to see how much I have absorbed. Learning things can take time for some people, I learn through patterns so.i have to struggle through all the lower level work, but once that makes sense to me the rest kinda flows. Mindmaps are good as well to help you visually remember the relationships between things.

I too have this problem which is immensely frustrating. I don't think I ever learned to study properly.

I have just started trying out different techniques to study better; skim reading page structure first etc. I also downloaded Balabolka so I can convert text to audio files so I can listen along whilst reading. I've also started using the method of loci, which is great, but not sure how to expand it to larger sets of things to remember.
