I don't mind talking to the barber. What I did mind for a long time was having my hair sprayed with water before it was cut. I had the same barber for many years and he would cut my hair dry. Eventually as I got older, I became okay with having my hair sprayed, though I still didn't really like it as such. These days I just get a buzzcut so it's all OK.

I have never been to the barber's in my life and have no intention of ever doing so. My Mum was a hairdresser before she had me and my brother, and she's still the only person who has ever cut my hair (no more than once every few years these days.) I can just about cope with it when she does it, but the sensory experience of having someone touching my head is very intense, especially if I don't know the person, and I get very uncomfortable if the person is stood where I can't see them. I get paranoid that I'll get a shiver down my spine or flinch and end up getting jabbed with the scissors or lose a chunk out of an ear! I have found peace with my ever-expanding bald patch, and I really don't care what people think of my "ageing hippy" baldy/pony-tail combo.

I don't like haircuts at all. I avoid them. I have my mom trim my bangs when they get too long, so that way I don't have to have a stranger do it.

My friend's sister just graduated cosmetology school, maybe I'll see someday if she will cut my hair when it gets to be so long that I can't stand it.
