I have a fundamental problem with the internet
You do have a point in that this is not as deep as face-to-face interaction. Still, used properly, I think Internet discussions can have their place. We just need to remember its place, and not think it can entirely replace face-to-face interaction, because it certainly cannot.
I'm also a vet of Internet socializing, FWIW. My family were early PC and Internet users in the mid 1990s when I was just entering my teens, and I remember designing web sites on GeoCities and posting to Usenet back then. This was before COPPA (I was 11 and 12 in 1995 and 1996), and people tended to disbelieve my age.
