Have You Ever Doubted Your Professional Diagnosis
Yes, but I just got diagnosed a week ago. It explains so much in my life, but then again I have been in a part-time job, had a relationship and children. But I have struggled so much with my job (not working for two years), with my relationship with my ex, I don't have any friends, my sensory issues is a big part of my life, my obsessions are quite intens at times, my rigidity, my routines, hate for change among other things makes me trust it, it just feels right.

Rarely and when it does happen I come to my senses quickly.
The only situation I can think of that would cause me to seriously doubt my diagnosis is a credible change in understand of what autism is.

Never once for even an instant. My everyday life is a constant reminder of my various neuroses and Autistic neuro-developmental disorder.
ASD- Never once for even an instant because the list of symptoms that remind me on a daily basis that I'm Autistic are far too obvious and numerous to name here but suffice it to say there is literally no doubt here.
ADHD- Never once for even an instant because I am always hyper active and I can't seem to focus on much of anything for long and I'm constantly impatient about something. I. Can't. Sit. Still.
BiPolar- Never once for even an instant because I've always had suicidal thoughts but they're getting better and I'm taking antidepressants.
GAD- Never once for even an instant because I have regular panic attacks which caused, in part, my heart attack in 2010. And I mean the panic attacks that cause you to lose consciousness and when you wake you're drenched in sweat and are completely exhausted.
OCD- Never once for even an instant because I'm terrified of germs, I can't touch much of anything that other people have touched in public and I'm constantly neat and I tend to repeat a great many things. In other words, I'm a perfectionist from hell.
PTSD- Never once for even an instant because I'm twice a victim of sexual assault as well as long-term abuse and I've suffered a nervous break after I had to leave the Journalism profession and finally, the first girl I ever loved was murdered when I was very young.

I did when I was in college. I was wondering if I should have been in that job prep programme and I was comparing myself to some of my colleagues in that programme. I also had the attitude that I'll show that I'm not like anybody in the room.

Never. After all, my diagnosticians offered to refund a part of my substantial fee because I had "done so much of the work" for them. So, if I had doubts, it would in part, be about my work, not theirs. Besides, the university clinic had some serious connections to world experts in autism over the decades, and they wouldn't jeopardize it all.
However, the idea that it was so easy to convince them, maybe they just "played along" to humor me has made me wonder sometimes. But, my wondering doesn't rise to the level of a reasonable doubt.
One of my diagnosticians is now a friend and an LGBTQ-autism colleague of mine (where I am expected to be "Exhibit A" at a clinicians' training exchange in December), so she would likely tell me if they simply played along. No, it must be accurate and correct. ![]()

I wish I had the same "luck" with the lottery. Alas, I might be doomed to be poor for the rest of my life because of all the medication and therapy I need.

Disorders have a corresponding code/number in the DSM , is there anyway of choosing your lottery numbers this way. Although the lottery is a tax on the poor imo and a mugs game but I do do it once in a while when it's a stupid jackpot amount.
