Life stinks for most people regardless of their neurotypicality! So what's new? :P

Feel free to drop me a line if you need a rant or just someone to listen to you. I know how frustrating life can be sometimes, especially in the prejudice hateful society we all live in today (What's new there too? Take a look at human history!).

I'm not quite neurotpyical but not quite an aspie either...just a human being with an ear to lend and a heart!

If you suffer from low self-esteem as many Aspies do, there's a good chance that what you're experiencing is typical for the forum (some are more eager to embrace newcomers than others). You might just be taking it personally, which is hard to realize when you're plagued by self-doubt. I've been ignored on some forums and been immediately treated as an equal on others. It's not an uncommon problem. It's very likely that you're taking a coincidental incident and turning it into a "sign" of something that's been on your mind for a long time, something that's festered and grown until you project it onto everything that happens to you. It's a mild kind of paranoia. If you eventually come to the conclusion that you've over-reacted, perhaps you should look into resolving the bigger issue and seeing a counselor.

This is pretty much the only forum I know that is still active. The rest are dead.

If you are doing anything else in your life and not spending it all on a forum, WP is far too big ever to get to know + be known.

But by contributing to a discussion theme that is already active, you become among the responded-to by its other posters.

"Zero replies" feels like my middle name :) I can't change your life, but I can relate. You're definitely one of my favorite posters here.

I've started maybe three topics ever in the just-over-a-year that I have been on WP. Two had responses from Kortie and Bea who are always kind, and the other post had only one response.

What I am hearing is that today you decided to get some new online friends and it didn't immediately result in responses, so you deduce from that that you are a nobody. As many here have pointed out, that would be faulty reasoning. You aren't nobody here. :D

A long time ago, when I was still trying to fit in, I went to a party. I really did not want to go, but it was go with my (now ex) husband or spend Christmas alone. (this was back when I still thought that was important.)

As one might predict, I felt totally left out among the revellers and snuck off into an empty room to read. I turned on the light so I could read. A bit later, someone looked through the doorway, looked straight at me, and said out loud "There's nobody in here, so I may as well shut off the light." And she did.

I sat there totally astounded, confused. After a while I got up and walked home through the snow. My now-ex husband never missed me.

So much for being nobody. :D

When I first joined Wrong Planet back in 2006, I felt like an outsider but if I didn't cross paths with Wrong Planet on that November day in my school's library, I have often wondered if I would be the same person now as I was back in 2006.

You have friends here on Wrong Planet, Fifasy. You are no longer an outsider. In fact, I feel glad whenever I come upon a new post by you whenever you do, Fifasy.

I've started a few threads myself.

I've never had one which has more responses than at least some of your threads.

One time I started a thread about the passing away of Muhammad Ali. I got three responses!

Not getting an answer fast enough does not necessarily make you a "nobody"

What is so bad about being a nobody anyway?

Yes, and...

Well maybe yes too.

If all the OP wants is a quick "response" on any website all he has to do is post a statement like "lets solve world hunger by starting to eat puppies", or just mention the word "gun" (and trigger, no pun intended, both gun rights advocates, and gun control supporters), or mention "Trump" (positively or negatively), and you will ignite a firestorm of responses. You will get a big quantity of responses. Even thought the quality of your interactions with folks may not be high. My point is that you cant judge your "success" on a website by the number of responses you get.

The number of answers is not proportional to your value as a human

Not all answers are valuable

I'm not here much but I have noticed your pleasant face and I like to read your posts, fifasy.

I'm quite a thread killer here and have been for some time (I've looked through old threads).

There’s a good deal of “thread killer” in me, too.

Three pages of replies... You're definitely not a nobody (at least not in the non-Diogenes anthropophilosophical sense).

:study:
