The smart ones recognized my intelligence. They may have expressed concern that I was too serious, and they were probably right. Most of the bullying I got was from really dumb kids.

Not just by NTs, but by aspies, schizos, psychos, and Republicans, as well.

"Weird" ... "Strange" ... "Mentally Ill" ... "Queer" ... "Out There" ... "ret*d" ... "On Autopilot" ... "Stupid" .. "Childish"... "Liberal"

... whatever the person speaking might look down upon with both contempt and derision.

Some other reasons why I might be considered weird maybe have to do with my autism. I don't follow most trends or Internet crazes because I prefer my own style of doing things. I generally seem to act older than my age. I do not belong in a clique but rather a good-sized (3-4) friend group that is more open. Is it because of these things that NT kids my age might see me as a strange character?

Probably all the time. I just don't care what other people think of me though. It is not my role in life to appease other people. If they think I am weird, possibly I truly am. But I don't care.

That goes without saying. This is an autism site!

If by dumb you mean ignorant, then I experienced the same thing. Some of the kids who bullied me were book-smart but ignorant (not street-smart).

All my life. But I just make friends with other nerdy people. Problem solved. :)

That was my first thought too. I dunno if anyone has thought I wasn't weird.

Weird can mean different things though. Some people see weird as a negative, something that makes them uncomfortable. While others embrace a weirdo, they appreciate the uniqueness.

I know both people who embrace my weirdness as being unique and people who avoid me because they sense that I'm different.

Yes, which is why I avoid certain types of people who don't take people on the spectrum very seriously.

I’ve been told that I’m weird, have no personality, am boring (that’s probably true!), am backwards (I wonder what being forwards feels like), and have no mind of my own (I can’t help that a little green alien is inhabiting and controlling my brain).

Always. Too many quirks. Many are too polite to say anything....for a time, but then it just reaches a boiling point where I'm confronted in increasing ways about behavior.

Strange...
Most autistics seem to be ultimate individuals...
Are you "masking" and trying to fit into an NT social environment?
If so, not the way to become self-actualised...

Weird, yes, Aspergian, not for years. Learning social skills was something I wanted to do; giving up my quirks that have nothing to do with Asperger’s or social skills but are just random is something I would never do, ever.

I’m weird, not just in the sense of Asperger’s and social skills but in general. I’ve gotten better with social skills but weirder in the non-Asperger’s sense, the kind of weird that has to do with just being an unusual, interesting person.

Hasn't that happened to everyone on this site, NT's excepted (or maybe not)?

I do have a mind of my own. I just choose not to open up to people very often.

I grew up in a stifling environment that frowned upon anyone that didn’t fit in perfectly, so that’s probably part of it.

Overall, though, I enjoy trying to figure people out and why they tick more than I like to share things about myself. It seems to be fairly common for people to refer to those who are shy and introverted as lacking in personality.

I’ve got lots of quirky weirdness, but I tend to be pretty private. I like having my own, private mental space. I really value privacy. It’s gotten me through a lot.
