Poll: Should the name of this website be changed?
It should be named something like, I don't know, like "autism village" or something. That was just the first thing that came into my head when writing this post.
I like "Autism Village" better than the names I came up with.
The irony has not escaped me that I am often the one arguing in PPR against political correctness and here I am starting a thread because I'm offended, I feel so SJW (LOL).
How about, "Land of perfection"?
Or "Argangia"?

Welcome to The Village...

5 years ago I started a thread proposing the name be changed. At the time my idea was overwhelmingly and passionately rejected. Except for a brief mention or two I have mostly stayed away from the topic since. Membership has turned over and I have had it in the back of my mind to pose this question again out of curiosity to see if the consensus has changed. The ongoing thread about looking at Autism optimisticly inspired me to finally act.
While not a poll question feel free to propose an alternate name.
The polls aren't looking good for you.
I luv the name, and if you manage to get support to change it, you will make me cry.

I don’t think that the alien analogy makes us seem inferior, just different.
<snip>
There may be undiscovered, superior life forms out there.
Indeed.
In the words of Sheldon Lee Cooper: We are an evolutionary advancement, "Homo Novus" if you will.
How about: "Village of the damned"?
""These, beautiful youngsters behind whose firey and hypnotic eyes lurked the demon forces of another world. They are not human, they ought to be destroyed!" <EEK!>

I too love the name. I was aware I was different than those around me when I was a child and to the point that I literally constructed an alternative history for myself. I was convinced that I WAS an alien from a different planet. It was the only logical explanation as a child: "I must be from a different planet." I named the planet, my creator and an alien name for myself and insisted I be called that name to which my classmates agreed to; and for years they thought nothing of calling me that. I created a rudimentary alien language.
Now, the closest analogy I have is feeling like a non-native person living in a foreign land and learning the language as a second language. I know that I will feel this way in varying degrees as long as I live. I've made peace with it long ago.

By any chance was it "Planet dino" filled with dinosaurs and weird plants like the one that grew meat, and you came to earth on a meteorite space ship to experience life as different creatures before getting to claim the thrown, meanwhile a noble family is plotting to kill your real dinosaur entire family?
Because I was convinced of this until like 6th or 7th grade from before preschool.
Also the location of the planet was directly up from earth. I could probably still point out it's star.

No. It was in a different galaxy. My creator was the leader of the planet. I wasn't born, I was formed from his vomit. My biological parents weren't my real parents, they were surrogates.
Your planet sounds cool.
I would prefer that the term Aspergers remain alive because when you say "So-and-so has autism", that could mean that they fall anywhere on the spectrum, and I would prefer people not be given the perception that I am low-functioning. "So-and-so has Aspergers" makes it very clear approximately where the individual falls on the spectrum.

Yours too, maybe they will form an alliance sometime
