It would be great if the Mods had Star Trek-type shirts...

An extreme Arctic parka will have a hood that extends well forward, to block side winds and snow glare. I think our shirts should at least be hoodies, and that would hide the headphones.
What do we have for noise - cancelling that can be worn in bed? Maybe what we really want is to have these cans integrated into a pillow-hat for comfy sleep. I'd opt for a flip-up eye shutter, too.

I think that's a great idea. Those are also my two favourite colours. I call them Sweet Pea colours. :P

I would buy an authentic authorized WP t-shirt for sure. I would wear it proudly.

I like wrongplanet, and I love noise cancelling headphones.

Therefore, I heartily approve of this thread!

From my point of view, I always had BOSE headphones. They are great, if you would design a pair noise-cancelling and with the wrong planet logo on them I would definetely buy them, even today!

I would buy Bose because I respect Amar Bose, but I only buy name brands as such when they get remaindered. Capitalism kills. AS is such a spectrum that I can't imagine a symbol of affiliation doing more than generating confusion.

i do NOT respect that man as he took his mathematical smarts and capitalized it to the nth degree, putting spurious patents on things he had no moral right to claim as uniquely his own [such as the hemholtz radiator for starters]. the way he sued anybody who used public domain inventions that he appropriated, is scandalous. if you look at the typical bose speaker, you will find plain PAPER cones! almost NOBODY else with any respectable name in audio uses paper nowadays! his bass bins barely go down to 40 cycles with mediocre levels of harmonic distortion. the main reason he had to use multiple [full-range] drivers is to work around the inherent treble beaming of his outdated cone designs. everybody else with any quality in the audio field, uses planar drivers or ribbons or at the very least domes for their treble radiators. not bose. end of rant. ;)

OK, thanks. I guess the money bug bit him. It is just so rare to find an inventor able to manage his own business. Edison lost five companies.

poor ol' edison didn't have MBAs in his corner, but he still did alright. he didn't treat Tesla very well, though. that is an understatement.

I could rag on Edison for quite a while, but back to Bose - he was inventing noise cancelling and provided prototypes to the crew of the Voyager aircraft that circled the globe without refueling. They couldn't handle the amount of sweat that ears produce, and shorted out in days, causing permanent hearing loss. (That thing was LOUD.)

the best i could say about ol' Amar, is at least he didn't electrocute [actually burning with DC] any unfortunate elephants to death in slow torture. that is what Edison did.

I don't use noise cancelling headphones because I have tinnitus and when I've tried them I found that they end up increasing the perceived volume of the ringing in my ears after I take them off which is a problem I avoid at all costs. I've read that others experience the same thing, that they "make tinnitus worse".

I'm very glad they're out there and that they work for other people though.
