I think diagnosing people way after they died is more of an intellectual parlour game than anything else .
It is often an overcorrection and a way to make people feel better about themselves. After a lifetime of negative consequences for ones autistic traits it is tempting to believe that a whole lot of historical figures and celebrities are or might have been autistic. In that way one can dismiss ones difficulties as a matter of misunderstanding, the sheepie NT’s just don’t get my gifts. Some parents of autistics also buy into this. Better that my kid is a misunderstood savant then an outcast.
There is nothing wrong with pure speculations as long as it is understood that it is speculation and nothing more.
