In my experience, if anyone laughs inappropriately, it's the NTs, especially NT adults. I'm not even factoring in laughing while bullying an aspie kid. At least I can understand why they're laughing: They're showing superiority over me that way. But more often than not, NTs laugh in totally inappropriate situations. (Unless, of course, they were showing their superiority over me, like my actual bullies did.) Consider...
Some of my parents' friends came over to dinner. While my parents carried tea and dessert, a teacup fell and broke.
Aspie1: <breaks down into crying like someone just died>
My parents: "STOP CRYING! YOU'RE A BAD KID, YOU'RE HORRIBLE, BLAH-BLAH-BLAH."
Their friends: Hahahahahahaha.
I mispronounced a word, that's not even standard English pronunciation, while asking for pizza.
Aspie1: "Can we order the Little Kay-sar [Caesar] pizza again?"
NT adults: Hahahahahahaha.
I was talking about the solar system, while riding a city bus with my older sister. Two old ladies sat nearby.
Aspie1: "Neptune has winds of up to 1500 miles per hour."
Old ladies: <after turning around to look at me> Hahahahahahaha.
My parents were talking to me about high school shortly before I was due to finish 8th grade.
Parents: "Are you excited about high school?"
Aspie1: "Yes. It'll have new girls who haven't met me yet, unlike this school year."
Parents: Hahahahahahaha.
Now, consider an appropriate laughter situation. I was in port on a cruise, doing a group excursion. Most people stopped at a cafe after; we ate soft-serve ice cream laced with liquor. Which got us all drunk. When I got back to the ship, I saw a couple I recognized.
Couple: "Hi, Aspie1. You're having fun. Aren't you glad you decided to take a cruise?"
Aspie1: <slurring> "Hell, yeah!"
Couple: "Wow, you're blasted. What did you have to drink?"
Aspie1: <slurring> "Some ice cream laced with rum or maybe tequila. It kind of tastes the same at this point."
Couple: Hahahahahahaha.
