The main danger of being misdiagnosed, is not only having the label, but also for the some to be filled with high doses of anti-psychotics and even be put in full time adult psychiatry unit.
They can prescribe but nobody has to take the pills, and as long as the client isn't a danger to self or others they can't legally be incarcerated against their will.
OTOH if a doctor's opinion is all the client has, it's tempting for them to fall into the trap of trusting them. And a kid might have to really make waves to avoid getting pushed around. And judging by the number of leaders there are in the world, a lot of people are easily led. I've heard that Aspies are frequently at loggerheads with authority figures. Perhaps it's just as well.
