I have Asperger's and schizophrenia . If my intelligence is declining I'd blame it more on age than either of those two things.

I think it's probably my medication.

All drugs have side effects

You can talk to your doctor about try to reduce the impact of the side effects

I'm on a lot of meds so it's not that simple.

Oh, dear, when I was misdiagnosed with schizophrenia and given risperidone, my mind was all fog and my body was out of control - I needed to focus on every single muscle to be able to walk.

Maybe you could talk to your doc about it? I mean, write it all down and give it to them? Possiblly, you could adjust your medication so you could function better.

Magz speaks from experience. It’s good advice. It could very well be the meds.

Since 12, I have been rapidly getting stupider. Exception:. English, math, physics

Thinking speed and alertness , like Alzheimers

Considered telling the doctor that I am so out of it that I can't concentrate and want neurologist

But paranoid Dr will tell DMV to revoke my driver's license

Probably. Any brain related medication I have ever been on has adversely affected my cognition one way or another. Which is not all that great to begin with.

It’s probably the meds and the negative symptoms of psychosis.

I wasn’t misdiagnosed with psychosis.

Yes but maybe there is some medication that would do the job you need without impairing your ability to think.
As an example, I've tried several types of antidepressants and some had horrible adverse effects (like they made me faint), others had no adverse effects at all. Try to discuss the adverse effects with your doc.

I experience psychosis myself. Do you think that is a symptom of classic autism or more of a comorbid thing?

I was on an SSRI for generalized anxiety and it really helped that but then started having adverse effects like inhibition and also my schoolwork started going down the drain.

I read a magazine article written by a woman with a high IQ who slipped into schizophrenia for a year and it lowered her IQ. Good news was that her IQ went back up afterwards! I figure that stress lowers mine. I once had a medication combination that made me "high" -- I was fairly joyful, but fairly stupid. It was kind of fun, so it was with reluctance that I told my dr to adjust it so I could work.

IQ, especially within the "verbal" tests, is a measure of a person's experience, and a person's ability to benefit from learning---rather than a measure of intelligence (in my opinion).

In my case it's comorbid. What kinds of psychosis do you experience?

I experience some psychosis, as well. What would be the difference between comorbidity and being symptomatic of classic autism instead? I am intrigued by psychosis.
My doctor wonders if my psychosis is produced by very extreme OCD. As they call it the "Schizo-obsessive spectrum"

It's called executive function overload and mental fatigue. You need to rest.
