How do you arrive at the conclusion that "ET", and "Zodiac" had any "aspie characters"?

One interesting fact is that Steven Spielberg who directed the film "ET" along with many other marvelous films was diagnosed with Asperger Syndrome.

Spielberg Does Not Have Asperger’s Syndrome
Quote:
Imagine my surprise when listening to an NPR report stating as fact that Steven Spielberg has Asperger’s Syndrome. Anyone who has had any interaction with the guy knows that he’s not only a super-smart and gifted filmmaker with extraordinary technological command (which easily could accompany an Asperger’s diagnosis), but he’s also highly intuitive, with warmth, charm and social skills to spare (which is far less frequent).

So it was not a surprise when his spokesman Marvin Levy came back to me today with an email confirming that there was “No truth” to the report. “It’s that simple.”
Spielberg Does Not Have Asperger’s Syndrome
According to Doctor Tony Attwood, a world authority on this disorder described the syndrome as a “different way of thinking” that has transformed Asperger into a trait in great demand, especially in the field of technology, where an eye for details is highly valued. Director Steven Spielberg has been diagnosed with Asperger syndrome and experts speculate that Bill Gates has traits that could be associated with this disorder.

Steven Spielberg was diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome as an adult.

The famous filmmaker found it difficult to relate to his friends during childhood. Spielberg preferred to spend time playing with his toys and inventing stories.

"Loads of successful people have autism," he points out. "Henry Ford, Steven Spielberg, Charles Darwin, Albert Einstein. And it is because their minds are so driven and focused that they can become masters of their fields. I'll tell you, if somebody with Asperger's decided they wanted to become Prime Minister, I wouldn't bet against them."

Some of the world’s brightest and most creative people are on the autism spectrum: Director Steven Spielberg has Asperger’s syndrome, and there’s speculation that Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg and Microsoft founder Bill Gates do, too. In fact, a Wired article postulates that Silicon Valley has a high proportion of kids with autism because many of their parents are undiagnosed “aspies” themselves.

It seems like there are quite a few websites that state he has Asperger's. Is it true? Maybe and maybe not!

I defer to the 40% rule --
Around 40% of what you read is outright false or a misleading narrative.

I saw the list of famous people with Asperger Syndrome. Michael Phelps has ADHD, not Asperger syndrome. I noticed a tennis player on the list, Marcelo Rios. He was known as the most hated man in tennis. I don't think he has Aspeger's, either. He's just plain nasty.

Unless the person, his clinition, his family or a credible source says a person as been diagnosed we should not say that. If the person has been diagnosed but is hiding it we should respect that persons privacy.

Most of the sources you listed are not credible.

The Telegraph and NPR the original outlet that made the claim are credible sources but credible sources are human, they err. His spokesmen so no. In the nine years since his spokesmen said no, he or nobody close to him has said yes. It is as simple as that.

There are plenty of these lists on the internet, often they are wish lists as in I wish this celebrity was autistic because I like this celebrity and wouldn’t it be cool to have something in common with that person.

That said Marcelo Rios apparently has been diagnosed.
Marcelo Rios - Wkipedia
Quote:
In May 2014, Ríos claimed in an interview to El Mercurio that he could be a sufferer of Asperger syndrome. On November 17, 2016, Ríos confirmed in an interview to Chilevisión that he was diagnosed with Asperger twice in his life, as a kid and during a Davis Cup tie, but he didn't care that much until the 2014 interview.

I say apparently because he was a kid in the 1970s and 1980s before Aspergers was an official diagnosis. But it is possible that he was diagnosed with an Autism Spectrum Disorder back then and misremembered it. He was young, it was a long time ago, and he did not care.

Enclosed is a LINK to the 2009 film - ADAM. at the time 'Adam' was released, I had hoped that 'Adam' would raise awareness of Aspergers / High Functioning Autism similar to how 'Rain Man' raised awareness on classic Autism.

A couple of things that 'Adam' didn't address was how the New York City environment can present sensory-overload for people on the Autism Spectrum.

The other point (toward the ending of the film) when Adam moved to La-Canada/Flintridge, Calif. to accept a job working in an astronomy-related field (Adam's strongest interest throughout the film) presented how 'Adam' forced-himself to be more social. I sensed this part of the 'Adam' needed expansion; as Adam resettled in an unfamiliar place.

The Korean film "Marathon."

The Sigourney Weaver film "Snow Cake."

I thought "I Am Khan" was WAAY over the top and stopped looking at it after 45 minutes or so. Films like this, and Rain Man, are the reasons people doubt their friends or loved ones can be on the spectrum. "You can't instantly count a box of matches spilled on the floor so you're not autistic." Sheesh.
