Yes, good grades got rewards and bad grades got consequences. Otherwise, I did not and did not care.

Reminds me of a slightly amusing story. Most of my grades were on an A-F scale (jumping to U for ungradable). However, a few of the subjects were marked on a Fail/Pass/Merit/Distinction basis. I got my report card back, and it said I got a D for Business Studies. Naturally, since it was displayed next to the other grades and there was no clear distinction, I thought that I'd gotten a D grade on the A-F scale (absentmindedly forgetting that my Business Studies had been a BTEC course, which are almost if not always Pass/Fail). However, I was pleasantly surprised when I got my certificates and found out that D stood for distinction in that particular case. 8O
