I think it just comes down to how society perceives how an person is different from the norm. There are childish things but as long as they aren't hurting someone's growth or anyone else for that matter I don't see it as a problem. I'm just used to people not hanging out with me and thinking I'm weird.

there is a difference between childish and childlike. many NTs are childish, many aspies are childlike. childish has connotations of immaturity, but childlike is reflective of a type of innocence or lack of adult conceits/corruption. i have been plenty of childish and not sufficiently childlike on too many occasions. but i've seen my share of childishness in NTs as well.

No adult is 100% grown up, except for maybe the adults who admit it.

Nah, thank you.

The real question though is what do you with the childlikeness? Group together or find somewhere it's acceptable?

Aw crap, that really stinks. I know some other Aspies but they're not near me. I have my boyfriend but even then I can tell that he's sad NT friends can't relate. I want a group like that but I know too few people to make it happen.

I'm probably a bit childish, at least.

have you thought about using meetup.com to find or form a local group? that is what i did. in the northwest, there is the square pegs aspie franchise, it may have different names in your neck of the woods.

This is about the best explanation I've ever seen. Thank you much for putting it down like this.

I've checked before and searched under Autism, Asperger's, etc. and couldn't find anything. Weirdly enough, when I used a search engine I actually got results. I found one that hasn't really been active since August but I hope if I comment and gives ideas maybe there could be a meetup.
Thanks for the idea. :)

When I was a kid, starting when I was about 3, I was always told by adults how mature I was for my age. However, when I was hanging out with kids my age, or my friends nowadays, I found/find myself sometimes acting childish and immature than whoever I’m with. So I would say that’s true for myself.

as a kid i got along with adults much better than with people my own age whom i thought were generally alien.
