This is an odd one . I'm not usually prone to doing this , but lately I've been speaking out loud to myself . It's peppered with strong swear words. I'm not talking to a voice in my head or outside of my head . I'm not particularly stressed so can't use that as an explanation .

I do that. I have sometimes wondered regarding myself if it is a tourette syndrome type thing.

I was constantly getting in trouble for swearing in general at my previous adult daycare. My psychiatrist asked me about two months ago if I was ever diagnosed with Tourette syndrome as a child because some of my stims look like tics. I was not.

I hate swearing. I don't swear. If I have meltdowns I scream.
I have neighbors who swear. I can't look at them or talk to them.

^I feel the same way, too. Although, I'm pretty much okay with PG-rated language, like 'damn', 'hell', and 'crap'.

IMO, I just don't get why people would think that cussing like a sailor makes them 'cool'. To me, that's just flat-out annoying.

I concur. Whenever my uncles and whenever one (or both) says the f-word out loud, my mom acts
as if it's an okay thing to do.

However, my NT sister and/or I get told off by our mom whenever one of us says an f-bomb out loud.

I don't swear myself. I think it makes someone look like a trashy, uneducated, rude, not-so-nice person if they use swear words every other word, and the fact they can potentially be offensive. Better to use a varied vocabulary. Sprinkling swearing here and there can get a point across but it loses it's punch and makes someone look bad if it's all that comes out of their mouth.

In the movie "Blue Velvet" the character Frank is a piece of trash and a lowlife. He uses the F-word every other word. It's his treatment of women and his entitled attitude that makes him so despicable, but his language certainly paints the picture. Yes, he's a fictional character, but he's the textbook example of I wouldn't want to vibe like as a result of dropping too many curse words.

I don't discourage other people from cursing, and it can indeed make language stronger. It doesn't offend me too much unless someone is using the word against me or someone I care about. I just don't do it myself, but I'll watch media with stronger language.

I'll say things like "zark" "fiddlesticks" and things to replace curse words.

I would only swear if in pain.

Agreed; and I thought I was the only person over the age of 10 who didn't swear (if Hell doesn't count)! My most commonly used substitutes are "blast", "bloody", and "balls".

Sigh....I've just been told by someone that I should get used to other people swearing (I would rather appreciate it if people actually used to the words 'dammit', 'what the hell', and 'holy crap' more often than the s-words and f-words).

I've been looking up on swearing online, and found out that using swear words is like a pain reliever; saying them makes you at least 60% more tolerant to pain than using non-profane language. So, let me get this straight, out of all the other 90% of the vocabulary words we use, no matter what language we speak, there are no other words more 'pain-tolerant' than swearing? Please give me some verification.
