People do not like having their freedom taken from them. They feel like they are being imprisoned. Even if they already spend most of their time at home. That is my theory anyways.

Books and LPs Kraftie.

Always have the complete works of Shakespeare in your house in case of quarantine :D

Now THAT is an emergency plan I can get behind.

Yet we're called dysfunctional or disordered because of our need for solitude to recharge; why aren't extroverts that need interaction with others to recharge also dysfunctional or disordered?

I am thrilled to have so much alone time. The state has suspended the requirements for seeing people face to face or in their homes at least until the end of April. All my work can be done remotely. No reason to leave my sanctuary until May. Of course I am concerned about the virus; this is a welcome silver lining.

I too will be thrilled if I'm able to work from home, but that decree hasn't happened yet.

Another possible silver lining? The country may be adopting work from home in much greater prevalence to the point that in a time it will become commonplace. That would be great in my opinion because it would open up many more job opportunities for me to choose from since I don't like my current job.

I'm having my uncle shop for me tomorrow because I got a slight runny nose and cough... Am I going overboard or does that make sense... I don't really know

Yeah, I know. I'm not sure, but I think you're American?

The majority sets the tone, always. I stood out like a sore thumb in some places I lived and barely qualified as mildly eccentric in more introverted/less gregarious or conformist cultures. In a place like Helsinki, a very gregarious, talkative and expansive person will be the one seen more or less as a freak.

Sorry, grammar corrections

I do see the complains of having to stay indoors for long periods of time, especially for those who love being in public very often, but personally I don't mind it. Gives me time to recharge and perhaps maybe gain confidence that I didn't have before. Also if staying indoors means that the coronavirus end up not being as widespread as what it might be,then it would definitely be huge benefit.

It isn't weird to see complaints about not having able or allowed to get out of the house.
Not being allowed to roam free on the streets, no matter how loud and chaotic, is still 'taking away' an option and freedom to do so.

I won't mind solitude or limited and shared spaces for a long time, I won't even mind the lack of technology or mental distractions/entertainment while at it.

But losing the option to roam free outside the walls around me is like taking away a privilege I'd enjoy along with others.
Even if I don't ever mind not going outside for a very long time (which I've already done so), I prefer having the option to do otherwise.

No, it's not weird at all.

People like fresh air, sunshine, the sound of birds chirping, seeing trees and grass and even rain sometimes. People like to move their bodies, get exercise. People like to go out to eat, visit friends/family, and party.

Not everyone likes reading, computers, and other indoor activities. Not everyone is bothered by noise and pollution. And some people have sh***y home lives.

The threat of coronavirus (I assume that's what you are talking about) doesn't negate the irritation caused by staying indoors; that's why people complain even if they think it's safer to stay in.

Last time I was in hospital I read Anna Karenina because I had nothing to do, so I might as well. It's a good book. Don't think I would have got around to it otherwise.

Agreed. If I couldn't go outside, or if I had to live with others, it would be horrible.

There are seven billion people in the solar system

Some of them live with others that they don't get along with. Some of them live with others that have contagious disease. Some of them live in dirty, crowded houses. Some appliances don't work. Whatever

Some of them work at jobs that can't telecommute. Angry customers are in that building at that time. As a result, someone can't go to work. Miss $$$. Some of them don't have cars or live too far from grocery stores to go with public transportation. Some buses are crowded and you don't know who has what disease. All you know is that, if you sit six feet away from everyone that has symptoms, then you are not sitting on the bus. Not everyone has someone that will grocery shop for them

Some people like to stay home but don't like not having the choice to go out

Well I am stocked up with food and beer and have video games to play and warhammer miniatures to work on, I will be fine inside if it comes to that.

This.
I don't think it's weird that people don't want to stay in.
