I chose it's nice sometimes or with some people. A guy should smell like a guy - I hate the trend of over shaving and covering up every little scent. Be clean of course. But as someone who doesn't imprint easily with people, a natural scent definitely helps. It is comforting somehow. Even with colognes (which I generally hate) I don't mind a light musk on man once in a while, or Acqua Di Gio eau de toilette (it's light and reminds me of the ocean).

In general I vaguely like the mild smell of most people who don't use deodorants or scents but wash reasonably often, though there might be exceptions. I knew one guy who couldn't stop his feet stinking horribly no matter how carefully he washed them, and I've read that there are some disorders that cause disagreeable odours like that. But apart from that kind of thing I don't usually mind. I gather the human body is supposed to give off various scents as signals and I think it might be a mistake to interfere with that process with deodorants and heavy perfumes. I wouldn't want to add to the social pressure to use that kind of stuff. I don't apply different standards to different genders. In most cases all I want them to do is use reasonable personal hygeine and not to be too heavy-handed with strong scents. I've not noticed the effects of what people eat on how they smell, though I don't doubt some foods make a difference. There was a guy at work who had a rather strong smell of something or other, best guess it was garlic, but I don't know. I didn't mind his smell but I wouldn't have wanted to get too close to him, as I figured it could get quite overpowering. It seemed to be coming from his breath.

Not usually.

If it's someone who I'm fond of it probably won't bug me. Tsion was always self-conscious if she had just spent hours on a bus to see me, but I never perceived it as unpleasant.

That said, I have had a few coworkers over the years who smelled so bad it hurt. If it doesn't physically hurt I probably don't care, but the one was someone who didn't just not bathe, but probably hadn't brushed their teeth or otherwise maintain any cleanliness and it was overwhelming.

The other was a female coworker who... let me know how dogs feel because I could tell she was at work even if I hadn't seen her, I would just at some point become aware I had crossed her wake because the trail still lingered. When she was advised of this she started using like rubbing alcohol or something that didn't really improve it or cover it, just made it harsher and less identifiable as a person's smell. It improved over time to be come a milder version of that. I feel bad because she was a really sweet, pleasant person and very outgoing, like basically the very worst personality to have blessed with that trait, because how can anyone bring that up without feeling cruel, but how can anyone not bring that up without feeling like they're avoiding bringing up something important.
