What are or were you like with animals?

I seem to get on well with all animals except dogs. Not that I hate dogs- I just find their always-on hyper-social behaviour confusing, alarming and a bit relentless. I get on better with cats- I think we have a lot in common! I'm pretty good at watching wild animals without disturbing them. The local foxes know me well enough to calmly stroll past me, and I have been known to sneak up on mice. At work, I'm the one who has to extract unwanted spiders and moths from the building- it's a red-letter day when I get to catch a hawkmoth and hide it in the bushes. I only have one songbird rescue to my name, but from the way it instantly flew away when I opened my hand, I think I was handling it OK.
