kitesandtrainsandcats, that is quite a reading from what I wrote... i simply don't want to risk it over something (CO) as easy to manage as switching off the boiler (I don't see why it needs to be shut down when it can be internally switched on and off)...

The probable problem with the boiler is that if it has not been inspected, someone will be in big trouble if it is on, even if it would have passed inspection. Is your real problem just that your place is a huge mess, and you don't want anyone to see it? We have covered all the other risk analysis without making headway.

No, the problem literally is being afraid of the boiler inspector bringing in COVID and giving it to him and he dies. I think he is just freaked out by it all.

Lol I'm in a high risk family and haven't been out in months except for dog walks...

There's a difference between paranoia and reasonable steps taken out of fear and caution.

My 84-year-old grandmother hasn't been out of her house since March, nor has she been near anybody since March, and if her family do come she makes them stand at the other side of the room. I suppose that is understandable for a person in a high risk group, as she is rather frail and gets anxious anyway. But a few weeks ago she let in the plumber because she had a leak in one of the radiators and it was essential to get it fixed, so she had no choice. She just expressed her anxiety to him and he understood, and she kept distanced from him while he was there doing his job. When he went, she just disinfected where he touched, and sprayed some disinfectant on to the carpet, just to be safe.

She mostly likely did not get the virus, and if she did get it with no symptoms then she survived it.

^^ Humans are notoriously bad at estimating risk, and not always rational about it anyway. Fears of snakes and spiders are often overblown, assuming that all are both deadly and hostile. During WW II, many aircraft were shot down, but few broke up in the air. The designers suggested that weight should be taken from the structure and added to the armour, but the Air Force wouldn't even consider it.

If you are rude to the waiter, they may spit in your food. I'm sure that any other petty bureaucrat is at high risk of retaliating for having to deal with an upset person. Applications get "lost," etc. etc. It is notably unsafe for Aspies to appeal to the Police - they just blame the person who is least comfortable in the situation. It isn't "The Government" to blame for that - it's the people with discretion.
I was just on the 'phone ranting away, but I made sure to tell the peon that it was her bosses that had me upset, and she gave me a small credit on my account. It will still take me a long time to calm down about the problem, though.
