I try really hard not to replay past events/conversations and search for meaning that most of my brain knows is not actually there... Sometimes it works. I know that the more I "figure out" about "what that REALLY meant", the deeper into fantasy I'm likely going. I know this, but still I have a really hard time not doing it. Any conversation, any conflict (even if I'm not involved), any anything pretty much, and I'm going over and over it, trying to figure out what I should have done, trying to craft a good response for next time, trying to UNDERSTAND...
I spent almost an hour trying to get to sleep yesterday because of a silly person in a useless meeting, and their statement that did not concern me at all, just trying to make sure I can keep my footing on a constantly shifting terrain of politics and loyalties in the workplace. And none of it will ever help, and I know that, but still it's so hard not to do it.
