Relationship Management - 5

I had I hard time picking one or the other right away because how, or what I would do, is dependent on the situation.

I'm not a goal oriented/thinking person, so for those and some others I couldn't properly relate to those questions either; I was taking a stab in the dark.

Not sure about this test to be quite honest. It felt quite a bit like the training quizzes I've done for retail jobs before. It seems geared towards a manager or something, which I've never been so I'm winging it, or both answers felt disingenuous. Or it seemed like there was an obvious emotionally intelligent answer, and an unintelligent one, and I kept having to fight the instinct to answer honestly vs answering "correctly".

I definitely reflect a lot on myself, but therapy showed me many of those thought patterns were actually unrealistic and unhealthy.
Self Management should probably be pretty low because I know I get stressed in stimulating environments, or under other circumstances, and I have some issues with executive function
I think the high social awareness is a byproduct of me just being really agreeable (from the big 5 personality model) and having a lot of experience in customer service
Relationship Management should probably be low. I try and determine how a task should be objectively done, lay it out, and do it. You can follow or not. My last job taught me that people will think what they think of me, I can't control that, so I don't worry about being liked as much as I used to.

On other EQ tests I score very high for theoretical EQ (knowing), but low for behavioral EQ (doing). Example: My daughter had a playdate with two friends and one friend was off to the side. I knew why, but didn't do anything. Ironic that I have the knowledge but not the confidence. "I could solve that for you, but I'm afraid to be ridiculed, so I won't." :|

I couldn't force myself to complete it, too many false results, where neither answer fit my behavior, either answer I would be supposed to choose from felt completely wrong and false. How can a test like that be accurate enough to be reflective of one's true behavior? I am surprised to find myself anxious and frustrated over it! No score.. hmmm maybe that means something I am really missing???? Now not only anxious and frustrated but worried! this is how I felt when I was assessed by a neurologist who assigned a load of destructive false diagnoses on me and tried in his summary assessment to devastate me emotionally because I dared to tell him I thought I was autistic. aaaack!! !

As others have noted, there were many false dichotomies presented.  So when I was not sure, I literally flipped a coin.

Another whereI had to essentially pick some at random for one reason or another, couldn’t even make myself finish it the first time I tried but then came back to it later.

For those of you who like doing surveys like the EQ (and who are 18 or over and have a diagnosis of autism), please consider doing mine. It's currently on the second page of this forum under Age of diagnosis survey and I'd really appreciate any responses as I only have a limited time do get lots of results.

Thanks in advance.

I'm another who couldn't complete it. I have no idea what they meant on some of them, and for most of the ones I could figure out, I had no idea how to answer them. Either I had never been in the situation, or neither answer came anywhere close to mine. "Pick the closest answer" Sure, but they are both about the same distance from anything I'd do. Never could figure out those sort of tests.

Does anyone know the score distribution in the general population?

I laughed at the last question - my family and friends often joke about how I don't do enthusiasm. Granted, I have interests and ambition but I don't express this in overt bubbly enthusiasm and usually struggle to do so. If I attempt to fake enthusiasm I just end up sounding sarcastic. You'll know I'm enthusiastic about something if I'm actively engaged (such as asking questions, providing suggestions, speculating, doing the task calmly and contentedly) whereas if I don't like a task I'll do it much slower and engage less.

So, I can discuss roles and tasks in a group to establish the best route of action. That's easy enough once you get past any arguments or clashes in schedule. However, drawing all members into enthusiastic participation? Can people actually do that?

I wonder how much about ASD is extremes (self-regulation, expression difficulties). My ASD-like daughter and ASD-like BFF are similar to what you state. It's hard to tell what my daughter likes, perhaps a softening in her features (she doesn't like to talk either). On the other hand, I (ASD-diagnosed) am usually over-enthusiastic. Even so, I wouldn't say that I "draw members in" so much as spam them.
