You are suitable here. I can get similar issues. Wierdly the threads I start that I was thinking were not so good threads so I abandoned them and rarely look at then because I said what I said to get a statement across where I had no further interest in them have taken off with hundreds of replies but I am not part of the thread, but the threads that are meaningful to me sometimes get no replies, or peter out after about three replies and some of those were me.

I am not one who can keep threads going because I am popular. I have noticed on other sites that I seem to be a thread killer! I was scared at one point because whole sites had gone quiet when I write things, but if I then go quiet for a while they picked up again! So when I initisally joined this one and after a few months things went quiet for a short while I was asking if I should leave for the sake of keeping the site running... But I was assured all is ok.

But you are fine. Keep posting regardless of how many replies you get. Some will take off. Others won't. It is how things are.

I have very much noticed how "Allistic like" threads take off like mad. What I mean by allistic type threads is ones that reflect popular oppinions that happen to be in the news or on TV at the time.
Any threads that go contrary to what is popular so they tend to be more autistically written by nature are ones which come under scrutiny or are not replied to so much. This means in theory that even amongst autistic minded people, they are more likely to follow "NT like" thoughts, which goes to show that the autism spectrum is a lot more complicated then one would origionally believe it to be, even amongst the more severely autistic people.

But going back to you posting. Post away. I like your threads, even though some subjects I may not reply on because they may not always catch my interests... This does not make them less valid as we all have our own interests... Where our interests and personalities merge we can have good conversations.

You are a good guy and we need you on this site, as you raise topics and face things that open up our thoughts. In many ways you are more intelligent then me because your use of words is more comprehensive. You use words I don't know what they mean as my ability to use language is limited. I tend to have a low range of words, but use them more often. I think deep thoughts best in picture form. Wierdly I spoke my first three words very early on but then went dead quiet and spoke at the average age that one speaks. It is only when I came into my teenage years onwards that I realized how limited my ability to remember what more complicated words actually mean has been limited. It is why my ability to learn other languages was restricted. But your use of english is amazing to be honest.

Your social communication skills are much better than mine. You have a lot of interesting things to say. As for what's popular - I have little to no idea. I post a lot of non medical articles on a schizophrenia forum I go on . They tend not to be about media personalities.

Intelligence wise I'm extremely insecure. If I fail at something I'm an idiot. If I do well at something most other people would do well at it too. I've done quite a lot of high range IQ tests . During times when I'm highly arrogant and vain(full of false bravado)I've had some of the results added to lists. Maybe it's the same as being added to the scoreboard of an online video game. When it comes to real life though I'm a total failure . Would be f****d without the help and support I get.

My interests include politics, genealogy +DNA and mental health/illness. I could bore you all to death with the latest genealogical thing I'm pondering over.

It is interesting. I prefer railway history and railway related subjects.

When I was living with my parents my father had a shed for his trains . Coming from Birmingham he was very much into the GWR .He had several books on the subject . He also bought the 'Railway modeller', or something similarly named.

I was getting it every month but recently there are no retailers left in these parts that sell it so I have stopped buying it.

I started out with the GWR, then I enjoyed BR, but these days I love freelance modelling in narrow gauge form as I then decide how my railway will develop. My rules. My little railway! :D

The picture you showed is one of the GNR Atlantics (Great Northern Railway) in miniature form.

Yes, you are. I appreciate your posts and responses. Did I miss some? I only spend 30 min or so a day on WP, so do miss a lot. Some participation better than nothing I hope. I also tend to make statements and initiate posts that don't get responses. Most of my responses aren't acknowledged or reciprocated. Too serious? Too deep? no action to take or no comfort to be had? too obvious? or there are a whole bunch of ASD folks here without "pragmatic speech" skills (including myself). Hahahahahaha.

If you are not getting the response that you like you can always PM me b/c I am good to opinionate about near anything (esp. when invited), but you may not want my responses (and of course ASD folks don't often solicit others).

What exactly would make someone unsuitable for WP?

You know, besides obvious trolling or having zero interest in ASD.

Yep. You’re suitable….a perfect denizen of WP!

With the amount of responses you get, there should be no doubt in your mind.

I find you interesting, you post good topics. Even this one.

I'm not very good at getting my thoughts down on screen so I mostly lurk. I wish I were more verbose.

You obviously fit in.

Not sure why you obsesses so much about replies to your original posts.

It seems to me that your "batting average" for starting threads with original posts is about the same as everyone else's. I rarely start threads, but when I do make an original post it often gets no replies. Only remember a couple threads that I started that went on for many pages, and they were years ago.

You tend to stick to mental health issues in your posts. And thats what the site is about. I myself relate to some issues you talk about (like executive skills), but not to others (like schzophrenic issues -like paranoia ).

Some folks focus on non mental health issues, and talk about general topics that interest them, like hobbies, or politics, or religion, or movies. So those folks cast a wider net. And consequently get more responses. But the responses are not necessarily any more relevant to mutual support in the autism community than the fewer response that you might be getting.

If you posted something about Trump- just said anything at all about Trump (good or bad), you would probably get a big response from the American segment of the WP population. Americans both attacking and defending whatever it was you said about him! So if you wanna just rack up a score of getting responses that would be a cheap and easy way to do it. But what would be the point? If you dont care about Trump why talk about him?

I do not understand the question.
Because this is a support forum, not a popularity competition platform.

But if that's how you feel...
You do fit.

In fact, in some ways, you're more relatable to other members than I do.
So I tend to see you more of being with others in WP. :P

So you got high IQ scores and unable to translate in real life -- so do other members and practically the majority of those with double exceptionalities.

So you feel irrelevant and feeling very alone -- so do other members. They have the same circumstances.

So you got interests that you thought others are not interested -- so to many members here I'm very sure, longing for someone to listen to their musings and even relate to tangents, when others couldn't or won't.
I don't know the ratio of listeners and talkers -- but I'm sure it's skewed in favor of talkers.

So you got higher support levels despite appearing not to, and others seen to have it easier -- oh my. That's just how it works online.

So your interest is in politics...
I dunno. I'm very sure at least some residents from the UK in WP are kinda sick of US political topics and US based remarks.

I think you are pretty cool, and it looks like a lot of other people think so too!

Firemonkey,
I am glad you are on WP. I like to read what you post.
I am interested to what you write as a reply to other people's posts. You don't have to start your own threads to be part of WP.

Keep in mind as well that the forum isn't terribly active at all right now, so I wouldn't draw too many conclusions based on getting or not getting replies to things currently. The only things that are getting much traction are contentious politics, and whether you have a taste for those or not is purely a personal choice.
