I get meltdowns when I feel under pressure/tense, in social situations with people that I don't know. Eye contact and close proximity makes me very tense.

[One thing I remember about meltdowns was that the adrenaline stayed with me the rest of the day. It was like I couldn’t relax after I had one. The few times I actually had a fight I felt jittery and sick to my stomach for a long time after.[/quote]

This is interesting.... I thought a shut down was shutting down like being unable to function, like staring at a wall or holing up in your bed.

I had something like what is described above... more increasingly. I thought it was hypoglycemia and tried eating sugar to get over it. It didn't work. There is usually a stimulus, but I just thought it was too much .... ? Are these meltdowns? My hands really shake!

My hands don't shake on their own. Usually I have to hold a glass or something and my hand will shake. I think I just have a sensitive nervous system. I still can't deal with confrontations or criticism without feeling jittery for hours afterwards.
