Do you experience pain?
I did as a child. I can only assume I was under severe stress and/or had an undiagnosed systematic infection. In desperation I started building social support (reaching out to dozens of people for support) and was given antibiotics by the doctors. One or both worked or something did. Even recently under stress I start having hip pain, throbbing nerves, etc. I have monthly migraines which are mild or severe depending on stress, hormone and food triggers. It's been observed that my pain tolerance is very high, and I prefer sleep and soups to medications. With the worst pain I simply freeze - I retain consciousness for the most part but cannot move and will speak very little. For some reason my difficulties mostly occur on weekends or overnight, which is convenient for retaining employment. Although when I find myself really sick EVERY weekend (or evening), I know I need to do some serious self care.
Wishing you relief.
I wouldn't do well with those pain scale things either. To me, the faces don't match the pain levels properly, and there are too many points on the scale. Four would be enough - no pain, mild pain, moderate pain, and agony. And you don't need a smiley face system to be able to say when you're in no pain or in agony. I think the health professionals just like forcing precise numbers onto things so they can get a computer program to make decisions for them.
Yes , many various pains , when very young I did not know what to call them. Eventually I tried to explain them to my mother, she started changing the bed sheets more often thinking I was picking up bugs from playing in the yard..
Many many years I learned after numerous surgeries mostly due to various accidents of varying
extremes. Finally
Figured out they were called neuropathies . Became used to living with various constant levels of pain. Then I learned pain is your body trying to tell you something is wrong . As a result of one of my more disabling accidents, after was as physically healed as far they allowed . Had a shooting neuropathy , that would double me over, many times a day in the disabled arm. Most odd my health degraded so bad that I was searching for answers all over the net.
Found a chronic fatigue and fibromyalgia chat room from NYC and eventually learned to be tested for Lyme disease and othe tick borne stuff. After 6 months of grueling treatment, I started to recover, even the neuropathies from childhood disappeared . But later on that doctor was driven out of business by American Medical Association.
She was curing things that the AMA did not recognize as being curable. And many stresses later for years and years caused most of the symptoms to return. But I had learned that groups of symptoms can be caused by one disease process. Instead of doctors treating individual symptoms , which many doctors based their entire practice on .
