I was taught piano as a boy, and achieved Grade 1 status (as did my brother), but I never really enjoyed it, and always put off my practice (and again, so did my brother), so I quit (and so did he :P). I couldn't play a note now if my life depended on it, though.

No, the musical talent in my family lies with my sisters, both of whom can play piano, and who between them can play the flute, the violin and the guitar. I'm just a putz when it comes to music :(

I think I have musical talent... but it's a strange breed.

I can instantly create a melody on the spot, it'll be terribly out of tune... because my voice is terrible... but it'll be a melody nonetheless. I also can create an interesting groove... and embellish and think up parts to music near automatically.

However, when it comes to actually playing an instrument... not so great. I have terrible motor skills, low dedication, I make massive amounts of simple mistakes which in music is a big no-no, I get distracted and can't follow another's rhythmic pulse for long, I also have a tendency to speed up and slow down when I play...

To top it all off, I have severe social anxiety about playing... and doubt I could ever play in front of tons of people in a serious capacity.

But I love to write music. I believe I have that music-imagining spark, it just flows out of me...

I jumped around playing many instruments growing up... but never stuck with any one. This is one thing I wished my parents would have forced me to stick with... and had enough money so I could take music lessons from a young age.

Fortunately in this day and age of the computer... there are more opportunities for people like myself to create music.

I play piano, keyboards and compose. I have an extensive knowledge of music theory and it is one of my obsessions. I used to play in a lot of bands in my younger days. Never scored any chicks though. I never once had stage fright and was a very different person onstage.

That's known as "relative pitch", as opposed to "perfect pitch".

I don't know if I would like perfect pitch. It might annoy me listening to music that isn't diatonic!!

I am in the final semester of a Bachelor of Music.
I play the clarinet, saxophone, piano, violin, viola, recorder, bagpipes, bugle, harmonica, tin whistle, slide whistle and guitar.
I have perfect pitch, and can discriminate pitch differences of a 33rd of a semitone in the octave beginning at middle C.
I began composing when I was 10 years old.

(Now, can anyone guess what my main obsessive interest is?)

I have a good musical ear, I'm good at sightreading, I play 2 instruments (3 if you count the fact i can sing (or so my music teachers tell me), i can compose music im good at music theroy (mind you my compostions are not brilliant), I have perfect pitch... just about and I and im not sure how good im telling at notes but like most people i can define a semitone to a tone.

I think an all AS band will be like any other NT band because it depends wether they are good at music :P

My best friend is in a band that's at least 3/4 autistic members- I've never met their drummer. I don't know if it influences the music, but I think it has an impact on their social dynamics.

I took piano lessons for several years and got to the point where I was able to play songs I liked, but I would never consider myself great.

I can sing fairly well. People have told me I have a nice singing voice.

I took piano lessons for only one year at age 12. I Self-taught, was gifted at sight-reading and can play just about anything that isn't horribly difficult. By 14 I could play any hymn at church. I can teach myself just about any difficult piece if I have enough time to work on it. I can't play in public, I freeze up and get so nervous that I make a ton of mistakes. I lack rhythm and my musical theory is bad, but I can play a song right if I've heard it before.

I also sing very well, but my CAPD has always interfered with my ability to pick out Alto and my range is definitely not that of a Soprano.

8). I don't make my bread with music. But I've got rythym, I can carry a tune and what do you know I sang before I said a complete sentence.

Piano or split keyboards and synths for me. It is very hard for me to listen to music others are playing, now. I just can't stand it if I'm not playing. I can disappear for hours at a time and just let my mind float off. I still remember the moment when I realized that I'd played two hours of ragtime and my fingers were just 'buzzing' but there was no pain or tiredness, at all.

I used to have voice training for a year when I was 9-10 years old. I was told by my teacher that if I kept practising I would go far. I could sing in tune in just over 3 octaves and sing [and hold] a note for more than 25 seconds. Unfortunately I gave it up because was being pressured by family to perform...and I didn't want to.
After that, I stopped singing. What was once an enjoyed activity became a fear. I was afraid that If I started singing again, my family would put me back into lessons and make me perform. Now when I try, my voice sounds horrible and I can't even sing 2 octaves anymore! I guess you could say that I have lost my talent. I want it back!

Yeah I have! I have a keyboard and I've created a lot of original material over the years. The ideas have dried up in more recent times but in the mid to late 80's through to the mid 90's I was churning out quite a few tunes. A few might turn up on my You Tube account one of these days!

I can sing (sort of) as well.
