gum chewing, cracking, popping
loud chewing
pen clicking
certain kinds of breathing
silverware scraping
kids and cats screaming
dogs barking
sirens
video game control sounds
keyboards

Repetitive: just about any repetitive sharp clicking sound
produced by a nervous person or animal...the sights of
these things happening are triggers as well. I also have
an aversion to repetitive movement like blinking lights
leg shaking, finger tapping, etc. I go from peaceful to
nuts in like a nano second after coming into contact
with them.....I get freaked out just talking and thinking
about them. 8O In all the research I and some others
have done so far, there is not much out there in the way
of relief.

There are a few therapies available and they help some,
but I have no med insurance, so I can't afford it anyway,
even if I did find something helpful.

Intrusive, repetitive and pointless noises drive me mad. Dogs barking, babies crying, car alarms going off and phones ringing for more than about 30 seconds all piss me off.

What annoys me more than anything is when the noise isn't really necessary. One of our neighbours has a Jack Russell terrier which barks for hours on end. Why, after 10 minutes, does it not realise that it has achieved absolutely nothing by barking at thin air and promptly shut the f*ck up?

The same with phones ringing over the other side of our office - if you phone someone and they haven't ansered within about 30 seconds, it's fairly safe to say that they're busy or away from their desk so WHY NOT JUST HANG UP? What does ringing the phone for the next 5 minutes actually achieve? I'll tell you: it gives me just enough time to search the entire office for the damn thing which is driving me mad, and then when I eventually answer it they say "Is xxxx there?" and I say "No. If they were here, they would have answered their phone four and a half minutes ago". Because obviously I have nothing better to do than answering telephone calls from complete f*ckwits.

The sound of someone chewing loudly is pretty repulsive too, even though I know it can't be helped.

Background hums and buzzes from electrical equipment are ok in the daytime but I cannot stand to hear them when I'm trying to sleep. The fact that they're right on the edge of my hearing range somehow makes it worse. Normally I don't hear my watch but sometimes I tune into it and then I have to move it or bury it under clothes. A big clock ticking slowly is fine, though - quite relaxing, in fact.

My smoke dector that was on the fritz the past 2 nights and kept going off! I actually screamed when it went off a few time. Hubby fixed the prob this morning.

Very high-pitched whining, crying, even happy, but high- pitched- my 4 y/o is great at making those sounds and it's painful to my ears.

Ticking clocks at night

loud chewing. slurping, etc

The hums of electrical equipment when not watching TV or listening to music

Loud noises, grating noises, forks on plates, paper shuffling, chewing, swallowing, electronic noises, repetitive noises, skin mocing across skin, fingernail scratching, glass on glass, people taking...pretty much everything.

I like music. Beethoven, Mahler, things with depth and levels...Mozart is too basic, like he was bored when he was writing it. Shostakovich is good.

Power-saws, and any high-pitched, high intensity mechanical noise. I always keep my stereo just about loud enough to
hear the music.

I don't like the sound of balloons popping, children screaming especially close to my ears, slurping, micophone feedback, whining.

People clapping (especially along to music for some reason)
Dogs licking themselves (had to buy a fan to sleep since the dog freaks if I try to put him outside of the room at night)

Lots of noises irritate me, but none so much as really low frequency bass coming out of car stereos in traffic. The sound literally nauseates me...also bass guitar being played through the pa instead of an amp...Harsh instrumental noise...like the kind i am around all the time....screaming as passing for singing....

Oh yeah I forgot to put down sub-woofers, loud mufflers,
people sucking face, & fingernails on a chalkboard.

I guess some people who are not on the spectrum or low on
it have this too, but in my experience, I have always been in
the minority in a group or a neighborhood regarding intolernace
for the sub woofer bass thing. It bothers me even ifI can barely
hear it because there is actually a vibration that goes with the
thump thumping that really rattles me, and I lose it.

I too feel rage come on real quick and concentration and focus
I had goes out the window. I don't like the feeling I have that
the sound has so much control over the way I feel. The only
other time it seemed to bother most of my former neighbors is
f it was ridiculously loud. Me, I can hear a sub woofer miles away.

I too, cry out in pain if someone whistles, screams, or a siren
goes off right near me. It physically hurts, not to mention jars
my nerves. It takes me a good while to recover from it too.
Some people think it's weird or they laugh at me, but I can't
help it.

Someone rubbing their hands on a balloon or something rubbery (Stop that already! Aaagh!! !).

Squeaky window/mirror cleaning.

Loud hammering – strangely I’m alright if I’m the one doing the hammering, but when someone else is doing it I’ll wince the whole time.

Loud motorcycles / cars with bad mufflers – god I hate them.

Construction vehicles that go “beep beep beep” when backing up – this one in particular can really drive me up the wall. I’ll be bothered even when it’s half a mile away.

Fire alarms – absolute torture!

People who like to shout when they talk.

People who clear their throat too frequently and/or loudly.

Cell phone ring tones turned up really loud – sometimes I have the urge to walk over and smack the phone right out of their hand.

phones ringing
whistles
loud voices/music/tv
most power tools
non-rhythmic sounds such as a door banging in the wind, dog barking or baby crying
off-key or off-beat music
unexpected computer sounds such as error beeps or sound files played by websites

the white noise from the office aircon i don't notice most of the time because it's background noise, but whenever it turns off i relax immediately and realise that it does make me tense even though it's not a loud, intrusive noise
