I'm glad. Do you ever do things sometimes that remind you that you have asd?

That's very poetic. I like it.

What makes anyone an individual?

Your own personal life experiences. What makes me different to you would depend on what has happened in my life. Also it would depend on the people who I have come into contact with.

All the time.

But rarely do other people associate it with “autism.”

It’s more either a positive or negative impression of “weirdness” or “eccentricity.”

So if you was with people and you did one of these eccentricities would you ever say out loud that it was autism?

I think it’s impossible to define people. Language can only do so much.

Do you ever say: I do that (or this) because I'm autistic or because I'm this or that.

No.

I do whatever it is because I’m me, Twilightprincess.

I've blamed my having ptsd on certain things that I've done. It's just that I've had to explain my behaviour so that perhaps I could be given just a bit of consideration or space or just time to chill out.

I've also had to let people know that I sometimes hyperfocus and lose my concentration because of adhd or sometimes because of my medication if I've taken too much.

I'm sure I've had to explain my behaviour as being due to aspergers as well at some point but I can't recall right now.

I wouldn't say that I define myself completely by my conditions and I certainly wouldn't use them as a usp but they are part of me.

Oh yeah I count. I do it all day long. Nobody can hear me do it but if they did I think there would be no escaping that it would be either something to do with aspergers syndrome or ocd.

Some things I do are because of ASD I suppose. But it still doesn't make up entirely who I am. In fact most of the ASD sometimes makes me who I'm not. For example, when I used to have rage outbursts I felt it wasn't me, it was the AS. I can imagine myself being a more laid-back, easygoing person if it wasn't for the AS. I'm not saying all NTs are easygoing and laid-back, but me as an individual I think my personality has a lot of positive qualities but the AS makes me yell out things I don't mean and it makes me look like a bad person when I'm not. AS is like an emotional cancer to me. It's malignant and shouldn't be there. Not speaking for other people on the spectrum though, only myself.

I wouldn’t put it quite like that, unless autism was broached as a subject.

If you explain yourself, people usually think you’re even weirder.

I might mention it if a person is a close friend.

And would you define yourself by your diagnosis?

I blame some of my personal struggles on my PTSD, but I think that people are so complex it’s hard to determine what trait is caused by what.

I see personality as something extremely complex that’s been shaped by a variety of factors, so it’s impossible to neatly categorize it, especially with something as limited as language.

I just identify as a weirdo, a geek, an oddball. Apart from that, I would define myself as a wordsmith.

A diagnosis of autism didn't make the slightest difference to my life whatsoever. I just thought 'oh, that explains why no one likes me.'

That's an interesting thing to say. I'm curious to learn what else other than language we could use to categorise something.

If no one likes you because of your autism then that would mean that everyone with autism would have no fans.

I like you BTW KitLily
