Anyone know why I get this?

I got 142 of 200, 99% probability of being atypical (autistic/neurodiverse). I believe that was very similar to what I got when I took the previous version of the test, and the graph also looks similar. I don't still have the old results saved, so I can't compare directly.

I found answering questions 3, 4, 9, 32, 40, 43, 57, 80, 121, and 123 (the ones dealing with romantic or sexual preferences) difficult. Being aro ace and never having had any interest in any of that means that my actual answer to most of them would be 'not applicable', so although 'no' worked for some of them, I had to just leave most - the ones where the question presupposes that one has ever encountered the situation - on 'don't know'. I guess that probably works, but it feels awkward.

I used to be 191.
Not sure what happened.

I've done all these questions before though.
When was the update?


Also, Question 79 is missing a verb. "Do you ______ ... "

I feel like this test is much more geared to picking up classical autistics with strong traits than asperger-types. So some of us diagnosed aspies may come out as likely NT.

I think the issue may be in the weightings. If we have moderate traits and tick box 1 a lot instead of box 2, we might not score as aspie, even though we are diagnosed.

Maybe the test is more a measure of strength of autistic or neurotypical traits but actually less good at differentiating autistics with mild traits from neurotypicals.

I agree.
A lot of the questions seem like they'd elicit all-or-nothing responses from most people.

On another note,

I've always wondered about those questions whether you like walking behind people or ahead of people?
I wonder if the OP could clarify what that's about.
Are they trying to find out if we walk quickly / slowly? If we're impatient?
In my case I don't like walking behind people I know, because I feel like I'm following them (subservient).
I don't like them walking behind me because of scopophobia (I don't want them looking at me).

Following on,
the test has a lot of questions gauging the strength of autistic traits.
But I think it would be better with more questions designed towards recognising and judging the strength of neurotypical traits.
Because if it is to make a good judgement on whether someone is AS or NT, it needs to be weighted more equally towards recognition of traits and extremes of both neurotypes.

Edited to add: just saw Isabella's comment and I have the same question, I never understood what the question about walking behind people was all about. When I saw the question about people walking behind me, I knew I didn't like that. But I'm unclear what the issue is with myself walking behind someone.

Please accept my (hopefully) constructive comments

One thing I've always noticed about these kinds of test is that some of the questions are about other people's opinions and not about the person taking the test e.g.

Do people tell you your experiences aren't real?
Do people drop hints about you or say things with a double meaning?
Do people tell you you get fixated on things?
Have others noticed that you have an odd posture or gait?
Do people think you are smiling at the wrong occasion?
Do people get mad at you when you don't act the way they expect you to?

My answers to all these questions is 'No' because I don't hang out with rude people. They could be thinking it for all I know, but they're too polite to mention it.


A couple of the questions are very difficult to answer, as they don't really apply to me. e.g.

Do you dislike it when people stamp their foot on the floor?
Do you feel an urge to peel flakes off yourself and others?

I don't know anyone who would stamp their foot on the floor or who is currently covered in flakes (skin?), so my answer's got to be 'No'


Some questions have a more complex answer than is allowed e.g.

Do you avoid going to places where there will be many people because you will get anxious?

I DO get anxious where there are loads of people, but I force myself to go because it's a means to an end e.g. a crowded supermarket so I can get food or a crowded gig, so I can see a band. I therefore have to answer 'No'


Some questions could perhaps do with further clarification e.g.

Do you notice patterns in things all the time?

The first time I ever did this quiz, I took this question literally and thought it was referring to patterns in material etc., so I said 'No'.


Some questions are ambiguous e.g.

Do you cry about nothing?
Have you tended to over-react to situations?

Perhaps these should be tweaked to say something like

Do you cry about things that you believe that the average person wouldn't cry about?
Have you been in a situation where you have reacted more strongly than you believe that the average person would have done?

These would both be a 'No'. If I'm crying about something, it's obviously not nothing to me or I wouldn't be crying about it. Same with 'over-reacting'.



I don't really understand this question.

Do you have an urge to jump over things?

Please could you add some examples. Do you mean random objects?
